Her first owner starved her and left her alone for a full week. As a consequence, she has been quite a handful, but is improving. Bio: Chili died on August 3rd 2006 after being hit by a car the day before. She had fractures on both front legs and her left hip was crushed. She also had internal bleeding. According to the vet, she had no chance of recovery.
I cannot possibly express my regret for not being a competent guardian for her. I was walking her on the beach without a leash, and she chased a bird onto the road. It is time for me to send you a little postcard from the sky. Now it has been two months since I left you, but I can see that you and mommy still miss me very much and cry for me.
But don´t cry! We will meet again, and then all the bad stuff will be forgotten. I can´t wait for you to give me lots of cuddles, but I know that for me it will not feel like a very long time before we are together again.
Me and all the other doggies here at the rainbow bridge are having such a good time. Everybody´s friends and nobody fights. We are playing just like little puppies, and nothing hurts anymore. I can run and jump again, just like I used to.
Do you remember how I jumped the fence at doggy school, so I could go and visit my little pal Nimbus? I jump much higher than that now.
There´s everything a dog could want here - green meadows, lots of trees and little ponds and big oceans - and NO cars!
Me and my friends like to chase the thunder cats across the sky. They are very fast, but I´m faster! When I catch one, it makes a big noise. I almost think you can hear it. I catch lots!
If Bo gets scared, tell him it´s only me playing. Some day he will join me here, and I will show him how to outrun those kitties. That´ll be fun!
I like that you miss me, but don´t miss me too much, because I´m closer than you think, and I keep an eye on you every day.
I´ve seen your new dog Vinnie - she is so big and clumsy, not like me at all - but she´s a nice doggy and she loves you puppy, just like I did.
One day, a long time from now, we will all play together, I promise!
You know that every dogs first Master sent me to you, and He took me away again. He knows best. There are other doggies that need you now, so don´t cry. Always remember what I taught you!
I brought Chilis urn home today.
We live in a rented house, so I´m not going to bury it.
Instead I made a little memorial corner in the living room with her urn, some flowers and a candle. I put the candle in a cup she won at obedience class.
When I die, I want my ashes mixed with the ashes of my dogs, and scattered along our favourite beach.
I haven´t been around Dogster for a few days. It just got too emotional, and I had things to do, and needed to keep a cool head.
There are people who sent us messages that I still haven´t replied to. I will get back to you, I promise.
I am so thankful for having this place in cyberspace where I´m free to grieve all I want, and people understand. It makes everyday life bearable. Thank you all!
