The year of living CaramellyMarch 28th 2007 1:44 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Today is the 1st anniversary of the day we got our Carmelita Linda, our doggy dream come true! She's come a long way in a year re: socialization. She likes most people and all kids but she's still a little paranoid about other dogs, esp females for no apparent (human) reason. I am shamed when other dog owners ask, is she friendly? Duh, I'm not sure, say I. For example, she's madly in love with a black lab across the street, but dislikes all other labs. I never know how she will react. Frankly, I'm missing out on a lot of extra-curricular doggy love. And I can never pet any of the neighborhood cats because she would like to eat them. Oh well, to quote Joe E. Lewis in Some like it hot, nobody's perfect.
No cranberry sauce ?November 24th 2006 11:13 am[ Leave A Comment ] Yesterday was so weird! The humans left me alone ALL day, and a very rainy, cold and windy day it was too. Then some person came over twice and took me out. She was pretty cool but my family got home very late apparently because of someone named Bad Traffic, and I was worried. I don't like when they go in that car. I always make sure to vomit in it to let them know of my displeasure. When they finally arrived home they were reeking of strange dogs and sweet babies. Children are always fabulous but what's up with those dogs? But they came home with a bag of turkey! My family, we have love! Happy, happy, joy, joy!
squirrel season!November 6th 2006 6:24 am[ Leave A Comment ]
All the activity in the park is very exciting! All the squirrels are preparing their winter stash of acorns. I was probably too psyched and frustrated by my failure to catch one because when I was alone one day in the house, I attacked, killed and tore apart the fur trimmed hood of BB's jacket.
How I found my Caramel centerJuly 7th 2006 4:39 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
My family waited many years to be able to have a dog in the family. Their beloved cats were long lived and very dog-resistant. I declare, I just don't get that whole cat thing. Any way, they did a lot of research before they saw my photo on Petfinder., where I was listed as a Basenji mix. They were interested in a dog that didn't shed, drool or bark. Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad- I t turns out, I have quite the loud piercing bark, but only when I feel very threatened, ya know? Anyway, my folks fell in love with the photo so when we met, it was already a done deal. I am a southern lady and so I turned on the charm, being from New Orleans and all. It was horrible what those hurricanes did last year and I fell quite fortunate to have been rescued by some lovely people from NYC, the Companion Animal Network.
