Arrival Story:
After waiting 16 years to be able to own my own dog, my parents said that since I was graduating in June from UCR that I finally had the proper time to give to a dog.I saw this little girl at our local Animal Shelter. She was quiet and friendly and put her paw out to give me and my sister a hug. Her information said she was 8 years old. I figured it would be a good opportunity to give an older dog a loving home for the last years of their life. Low and behold during our interaction the attendant said there was no way she could be 8 years old because of the good condition of her teeth. After some investigation we found out that she was 8 MONTHS old. That was fine though. I was in love with her as was my boyfriend and my younger sister as well. I adopted her on May 12, 2006.

The shelter papers said she was a Chow mix but she doesn't look like a Chow at all. So we did some independant research and found that she fit the profile of a Kai Ken. We think she was labeled a Chow because she has some blue spots on her tongue but we found that as many as 30 breeds have that trait!
