One Sad Day

One Monday, July 31st, a true and dear friend of mine passed away. Mignon was a beautiful siamese cat that spent 16 glorious years with my mum. We had gone up to Owen Sound to visit with my family, and over the weekend, mignon was getting worse and worse. I had a funny feeling, and so did the rest of the family. She was not acting like herself, something was wrong. At first, i was wondering why my mum and my grandmother were making such a fuss over mignon, but when she took over my favourite chair, i knew. Over the weekend, mum kept shooing me away from my chair, telling me to leave minnie alone, but she didn't realize that i was only going near to check on Mignon. I wasn't angry or upset that she was there, just concerned. By sunday, i saw mum and my grandmother sitting at the kitchen table and they had mentioned something about the vet. But i saw in their eyes the sadness and heartache. I love the vet, why would they be so upset about it? Monday morning, they wraped my poor fragile and unable to move Mignon in a blanket and took her out the door. I was worried. They didn't come back for awhile. Jacob, Olivia and i sat in the living room and talked about what was going on. Olivia, who has been like a mother to me, explained that mignon was ill and that they were taking her away to a better place. She told me not to worry because minnie soul would carry on and be healthy and happy in this new place. She tried to explain something called Rainbow bridge, where all the cats and dogs go. She says that when you're there everything is beautiful, there are tons of lush fields to run and play in, and treats gallore. Sunshine that is warm, but not hot, water running freely that tastes like no other water in this world. Everyone there is so happy! And you wait there....until you meet your humans again. It sounds so peaceful. But when mom came home, she was crying and so was my grandmother....so it made me a little confused. Why are they so upset when minnie is in a better place? Olivia wispered to me that they just didn't want to part ways yet. Rest in peace minnie and may your soul carry on! We all love you, and we'll see you on the bridge!
