Arrival Story: Shakal came to us from Ekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains of Siberia, through the Czech Republic and Germany, while we still lived in Europe. When we returned to Canada, CKC would not register him as a Siberian Husky in spite of his being an honest-to-gosh Siberia Import!!! He was a better Siberian than 99% of the show dogs in this country, and it's THEIR loss.

Bio: Shakal was bred by Sergei Alexandrovitch Solovyev, Russian arctic explorer and author of "Man and the North". At Seppala Kennels in the Yukon he sired some wonderful sleddogs for us on Seppala bitches, and his genes are now an important part of the Seppala Siberian Sleddog breed. In his old age he lived in the log cabin with Isa. He became very mellow in his old age but still knew he was King! Finally he grew too weak to walk and asked to be sent to Rainbow Bridge where it's always warm and sunny. His passing was truly the end of an era; he was the last of the dogs that came with us when we returned to Canada from Europe. Shakal iz Solovyev 10 June 1992--25 February 2008, rest in peace...
