Arrival Story:
Maggie came from a breeder in Oklahoma. I had been wanting a dog for a long time and researched until I found the right breed. When Maggie arrived at the age of 4 months, it was clear that she was going to be quite a project. Hindsight is 20/20, and I realize now that the breeder she was purchased from was not a breeder I should have been dealing with. Maggie was the first dog I've ever purchased from a breeder, so I know a lot more now than I did then. When she came home, she was afraid of everything, and since I live in the city, was almost paralyzed with fear every time we left the house. It has taken some time, but Maggie has come into her own. She loves other dogs - especially Charlie, her yorkie-poo friend! She is still trying to conquer her fear of strangers. If you see her, give her a treat and help us overcome her fear!

Tomorrow I have to go somewhere called the "groomer." I don't know what that is but it sounds really scary. Mom says my hair is getting out of control and she can't keep up with the mats anymore. I know what mats are... they are weird things in my fur that pull on my skin. Mom tries her hardest to get them out but I hate being brushed for long periods of time and I get really antsy and escape a lot. I've got one under my chin that is really bad but I won't let mom near it! She says she is going to have me "shaved" to "start over." I don't know what that means. I hope it isn't too scary. Mom keeps saying I'm going to look like a totally different dog. I don't know how I feel about that. All I know is that my chin is reaaaallly itchy. If being shaved means I won't be itchy there anymore, I'm all for it! Maybe I'll get treats if I'm good. I hope I don't get sick in the car...

Well, after a very stressful journey from Oklahoma to San Francisco, CA, I finally made it home. My mom changed my name to "Maggie" because she said it was the first name that popped into her head when she saw me. When I finally got to the airport I was very tired and confused. The trip was so long and scary, but I had a nice brown puppy named Pip next to me the whole time keeping me company. This place is so loud and fast! I am not so sure about all the cars and people. There are also lots of big dogs here who don't even have those weird ropes around their necks like I have. I bark at them a little because I am scared, but really I am just jealous of their leashless life! I hope I can get there some day. Whenever I tug on the leash it scares me and I sit down and stare at my mom. She tells me I'm a good girl and to keep going, but sometimes I'm just too scared. Hopefully I will get used to my new city life soon. I love my new cat friends and my parents too. I'm happy to be here, but I think it's time for me to take a nap!

Not home yet!

Hello! My name is Chiyo. Aren't I cute? I currently live in Oklahoma with my Mom and sister, but I'm about to embark (get it? bark!) on a long journey to San Francisco, CA. My new mommy, Patti, is going to be picking me up at the airport on June 6th and I can't wait! I am excited for all the new smells, especially those two furry things I'm going to be living with. I wonder if they're dogs too? I hope they like to play fetch!
