A Christmas Eve prayer for all the unloved Dogs in the World, by Scamp Ramsay
On this night of all nights Lord, please can you remember
The Dogs who never have the love, that I do in December
On this night of all nights Lord, keep all dogs nice and warm
But please Lord most importantly, keep them safe from harm
On this night of all nights Lord, let them find some meat
For they are cold and starving as they lie upon the street
On this night of all nights Lord, please take the lives of those
Who are suffering and in dreadful pain, from their tail right to their nose
On this night of all nights Lord, please don’t make it snow
It may be nice for lucky Dogs, with homes and fires that glow
On this night of all nights Lord, let them feel no pain
For all the love we send them, will only be in vain
On this night of all nights Lord, please take away their fear
And let them not be kicked or beaten, and shed another tear
On this night of all nights Lord, a gift they do not need
Could they just have a family, to love and give them feed
On this night of all nights Lord, don’t give them a big fat goose
Please just get them rescued, from their chain that’s like a noose
On this night of all nights Lord, Santa knows they’ve not been bad
So why do they get tortured, by their evil drunken Dad
On this night of all nights Lord, why would someone hurt a Dog
Or tie them up outside the house in ice, wind, snow and fog
On this night of all nights Lord as they sit there cold and wet
Just tell them it is possible, this is as bad as life will get
On this night of all nights Lord, I’m as lucky as can be
I only wish those other Dogs, could spend this night with me.
Amen

My Gran is in Australia
I miss her every day
She used to throw my ball for me
For hours and hours we’d play
She went there for the winter
In Scotland it gets cold
She’s coming home in May though
At least that’s what I am told
I really love my Mums a lot
But my Gran is my Best Buddy
We spend all of our time together
She wouldn’t care if I got muddy
She feeds me more than I should have
And sometimes I get fat
But she just thinks I’m cuddly
There’s nothing wrong with that!
I sometimes go in to her room
And have a sniff around
It’s like she still is in there
But doesn’t make a sound
My Mums neglect the garden
It’s mossy and there’s weeds
They forget to feed the birds as well
All they’ve got is mouldy seeds
They take me to the office
In the morning I’m always ready
People come in and speak to me
I show them all my Teddy
When Mum goes to the bank each day
I get to go on my lead
I get lots of attention from the staff
But they never have any feed
I miss the hours of football
My Gran and I used to play
I love her and I just can’t wait
Til she comes home in May

T’was the night before Christmas and by the light of a lamp
Not a creature was stirring but for one wide awake Scamp
He had hung up his stocking on the banister rail
When all of a sudden what was that he could smell
Was it a pack of Schmackos or a pigs ear
No wait, could it be what he had wanted all year
He carefully made his way from his bed
With the anticipation of what lay ahead
Along the hallway he tipped on his toes
Into the lounge following his nose
Much to his amazement standing there by the tree
Could it be Santa that’s looking at Me
Hello there young Scamp, Santa did say
I have brought you some pressies for Christmas Day
Have you been a good boy and looked after your Mums
And given some bones to your Dogster chums
Yes Sir, said Scamp, I’ve been a good boy
Please tell me Santa, did you bring me a toy
Off back to bed Scamp, now you must go
And then in the morning, my boy you will know
Back on his toes he tipped to his bed
Curled up in a ball and lay down his head
As he dozed off, his heart filled with cheer
Knowing that Christmas would soon be here
His thoughts turned to family and his Gran that he misses
And hoped there will be lots of mistletoe kisses
He whispered so quietly with his eyes shut tight
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night
