To the Rainbow Bridge. RIP baby

Hi all :)


Digger's mum here. I know I haven't updated the diary in ages, but I had thought our Dogster friends deserved to know. Digger passed away on the 29th of Feb, 2012. Essentially, he died of old age, surrounded by his loving family. He would be turning 17 this year.

My family is shocked and pained by his passing. He was a member of our family and was loved VERY much. Damn, he was the best dog EVER. My hearts is in pieces and I haven’t stopped crying. I’m at a loss for words. He was my baby.

Digger was my life. He was with me practically my whole life. It's so difficult walking around without him. Life is not the same. He was the most amazing dog with the best personality. I know he lived a long and good life- that’s what matters in the end.

I love you Digger. FOREVER and ALWAYS

I'm 14!

Dear Diary,
Yesterday [Australian time that is: 23rd of December] was my 14th birthday! Yipee! :D My Mummy was so excited for me!

It's been a hard year this year, with my infection and all but I'm as healthy as a horse now. I recently went to the vet for a check-up and he said all my organs are working properly and no sign of that nasty infection I got earlier this year.

I was simply pampered yesterday! I got taken for a long walk, then I was given bath [I didn't really like that bit but anyway!], brushed until dried and then.... I was given a cake! Yummy! It had two layers!!! AND then I had a nap. :)

It was a fantastic day and I hope I have many birthdays to come! :D

Back to normal but deaf

Hey pups and pals!
Update on my condition: I went to the Vet yesterday and the Vet said I have 100% recovered! YAY! However the vet says this ear infection may come back but I will fight it again and I will recover like last time.
So that is fantastic news! :)
Unfortunately, my family has noticed that I have become extremely deaf after the infection. We think the ear infection has burst my ear drum. I won't respond to anything unless I'm touched (and I jump when someone does. Like I didn't know they were there).

Thank you again to everyone who has been so kind over these few weeks! You guys are awesome!

Progress and Prayers

Update:
26th of May
This morning, we helped Digger to walk (by using supports for his legs) around the backyard. He seemed like he wanted to walk but was a little confused on how to do it. He does have a bit of a bladder infection because as he can't walk, he can't go to the bathroom in a comfortable way (so he has to pee himself which has caused the infection). But he is on medicine for that.
His head is still titled in an awkward manner which is making it hard for him to eat. We are currently hand-feeding him meals.
We are taking Digger to the vet again on Thursday for more blood tests etc. Maybe on Thursday we will find out what's causing all the trouble.
He seems to be recovering which is absolutely wonderful but we have to keep our eyes out for any decrease in progress.


28th of May
Fantastic news! Digger is picking up miraculously.
Today, Digger stood up by himself! He is trying to walk around more and more which is wonderful.
We went to the vet and she said he is making the right progress. The vet said Digger was suffering from Idiopathic which is a fancy word for "unknown cause". But the vet said she was thinking the ear infection was the cause of Digger’s pain and stumbling.

He will be fully recovered in a week or so. He'll come out of this with only a slight head tilt and a shaved leg.

A trip to the Emergency Vet

Hey guys,
On Saturday I took a trip to the Emergency Vet Hospital. Mum became extremely worried when she found that I couldn't stand up (and when I tried, I collapsed), my eyes were twitching, I was shivering and my head was tilting in an awkward manner.
Afraid that I had some kind of stroke, my family took me to the Emergency Vet Hospital. I was examined but the vet couldn't pick what I was suffering from. However, she ruled out that I had a stroke and gave us a few possibilities on what I might have:
-Infection (either in the ears or the brain)
-Tumor
-A sickness that affects a lot of old dogs. It goes as quickly as it comes but it's likely that the sickness will come back worse after a few weeks.

The vet decided to keep me there for the rest of the weekend to monitor me.
On Sunday, my head tilt became worse and I still couldn’t walk but I was eating and drinking normally. The vet found an infection in my ears which could be the cause. The vet said my family could take me home to 'home-nurse' me if we wanted to the next day.

On Monday (today), my head tilt and eye twitching has become better so my family has decided to 'home nurse' me. The vet wants my family to call her everyday and to bring me back for frequent tests. She still doesn’t 100% know what’s affecting me but she has told my family that the next few days will be the real test. If I improve, then it could be just the ear infection and I will be my happy self in a few weeks. If I become worse…

My Mummy is really worried at the moment so we ask for your prayers.

Owie!

Dear Diary,
I've returned from my wonderful holiday while my family were away on their own holiday. I just love my holiday kennel. The walks, the pampering, the other doggies. However, today I came back to my family with a sore on my nose.
According to the hoomans there, I got the sore because I was being a very silly doggy. I was waiting for my turn to be taken out for a walk. I was so impatient to go, I stuck my nose under the fence which left a deep scrap on the side of my nose and serveral scratches. Ouchie! Now I've got cream for it to prevent infection. Pictures of me up soon so you'll see the cut.

BTW, HAPPY (late) NEW YEAR! 2009! Yay!

Dear diary,

Today I have been blessed by the kindness of dogs here. I was given Dogster plus by the wonderful family of Roscoe after I was nominated by Sharna and Kasey the Golden. Roscoe was kind enough to give out plus to nominated pups in a thread in the Plus Forums. What a great pup!
I wrote this in the thread:

Dogster has done it again!
They have left us speechless! Mummy and I are simply at loss for words and woofs! The kindness of pups here are simply amazing and moving.
Thank you very,very,very,very,very,very,very,very,very much Sharna and Kasey for nominating me! You were sweet to even think of me. You two have been my pals for a long time and we've been through a lot of fun times but also sad times together. I value your friendship a lot and I thank you for your words of kindness and friendship.

And thank you very,very,very,very,very,very,very,very,very much to Roscoe and family! For being sweet enough not only to give me but other pals here in this thread the opportunity (if not already experienced) to come and hang out with the loving community of plus. You have a heart of gold my friend. I extend my Australian hugs to you and your family for such a kind, selfless act. I'm off to send you a pup pal request! Thank you again!

I was so fortunate to have been given the chance before at plus by the wonderful family of Laci after Kasey posted a thread. (Thank you again! BOL )It was a blast to hang out with my friends up here, give gifts constantly and be involved in activities such as the Group Hug thread! Gosh I loved that.
And now to be given the chance again is simply…indescribable. I do not know how to show you how much this means to me. Really…thank you.

So pups and dogs, I'm staying another year thanks to the wonderful Roscoe, Sharna and Kasey. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I still cannot describe the amazing brightness of the kindness from the community of dogster. Thank you once again.

Happy Holidays! My 13th Birthday

Hey pups and dogs,

Haven't written in ages! (since howl-o-ween) Mum has just been too busy recently but now she's on holidays. *dances*

Well today is my 13th birthday! (this is in Australian time. My birthday is on the 23rd of December) Mum and I are both really excited. Mum even froze chicken to make ice cubes! Yummy in my Tummy!

For my birthday I got a new blue collar (I just love the colour blue), really fancy treats and those frozen chicken cubes! It was really great to celebrate my birthday with my whole family. I mean, 13 is a big number!

Also, today in dogster I caught up with my old pals and met some new ones! It was great to see them all and chat! :D I even got the Ball Of The Day which was very special and I was honored!

Mum's family is going to dress up again this howl-o-ween! (We dont really do trick-or-treating here in Australia so my family just dresses up at home and eat heaps of lollies!)

Wish You Well

Dear Diary
I've been sick for the last week, vomiting and having diarrhea. I also had a very hot nose (not your normal cold and wet nose) Yes, very unpleasant so yesterday I was taken to the vet.

Mum was very worried about me as she thought maybe I had Giardia. (it's a parasite that attaches itself to intestines)
Thankfully, I didn't. After being poked and injected with needles up here, there and everywhere the vet came to a conclusion that I just had a bit of a sick tummy. Nothing serious. I was given medication just to settle my tummy. Phew!


So I'm much better today which is very good news. There's more good news as well!
I had a blood test yesterday and the results came back today! I'M HEALTHY AS A...a..VERY HEALTHY PUPPY! All my organs are working fine so that's very good news and no sign of anything serious. Mum's very happy. =]


So that's my update for the day!
