Fun in the back yard.

Goodbye all, it's been a blast :-)

Overall, I'd have to say it was a great summer. That leg was hurting something fierce, and even though I hate going to the vet, I was glad to see it go. It wasn't long before I was up and hopping around on three legs. In fact, I heard mom telling the vet that she was having a difficult time keeping me from overdoing it. I was just so anxious to get back to chasing cats and bunnies. In the meantime, I spent a lot of time doing my second favorite activity - laying in the shade sniffing at the wind. Finally, I was allowed to get moving- and boy did I! Those cats thought they were in the clear, me missing a leg and all, but boy did I surprise them. A take off fast as lightning! I never did catch one, but I think it was fun for all of us.

So, you can see why when I suddenly couldn't move my back end my people companions understood a life of not being able to around wasn't going to be any fun for me. They did the right thing and took me to the vet where I was given medicine to help me fall asleep. Next thing I know, I running over a bridge on four legs. Going top speed, I ran toward a meadow. And when I got there, well, you will never guess who was there waiting for me! Heidi! I had missed her so much and we immediately did a play fight dance, just like old times. She was surrounded by bald puppies. (Inside joke) When we stopped to rest I looked around and saw all of my favorite things- bunnies and cats to chase, vast meadows to run through, large pools of clear cool water, and bowls stacked with American cheese. Life couldn't be any better. :-)

That new dog Loki

Loki came 3 months ago or so. At first I was not very sure about this dog. He seemed very awkward, like he didn't know how to be a dog and my family was treating him like he was special. And when I tried to do my job and bark at him they yelled at me! It took me awhile to understand that he wasn't an intruder but a family member. Took me about 2 months to accept but it wasn't until recently that we finally put down our differences and get along fine. He's not so bad. His one problem is rough housing. He sees me and Heidi the German Shepherd do it all the time but we are playing. He doesn't seem t understand the rules of the game and he sort of bit my butt once. He also thought I was really being mean to Heidi. I don't think he understands what a play bow means. He's not so bad, now he can keep up with the group when we hike. He even dug a hole one day. I'll have him acting like a REAL dog in no time!

We moved to 'the country' and there are cats!! I chase them. I can't help it. They run so I have to chase. Then mom yells 'Don't chase the cat!' I finally cornered one once. Scratched right on my nose! That hurt! So I ran away.

I hadn't ever paid attention to what the suitcase meant until my sister told me. It means mom is going away on a trip but that this time we should be extra good while she is gone because she is very sad, her Papa passed away on Saturday.

Today I got a bunny. I got it early in the morning but my mom didn't find it until this afternoon. She doesn't get mad at me because that is what I do. I like to chase and play with all kinds of creatures especially groundhogs, bunnies, squirrels and two nights in a row I almost got a live possum into the house. My sister, Penny, likes to play with creatures too but she prefers garter snakes and moles and mice.
