Arrival Story: Cliff was born in the huge snow blizzard 4/1/97; his pregnant mother had been abandoned, and ARF in Beacon NY found "Ameesha" and her 3 pups and brought them to the shelter. The pups grew up and got adopted, except Cliff. He was undersocialized, extremely shy, scared of people, not housebroken..... but formed a strong bond with the volunteers of ARF. I started to volunteer July of 98, fell in love, and took Cliff on Halloween '98. Maybe that's why he likes to dress up- reminds him of the first day of his new life. He has done better than anyone would imagine- went to 3 training classes, won 1st place trophies and diplomas, is perfectly trained, goes new places with no problem, comes to work with me, has a whole circle of dog friends and cat friends, and visits his buddies at ARF all the time.

Every night my mom comes home from work and wonders why I've lately been going through my "closet" and selecting several outfits to try on. I've been hearing her discuss the retro Dance Party that the Animal rescue Foundation is planning for March, and I don't see why I shouldn't be invited, being the ARF mascot and all. I'm leaning towards wearing my Big Daddy, purple pimp costume for the occassion, but I don't know- those angel wings and halo are awefully cute too. Mom won't be able to say no to me going the way I'll look.......
Cool. I'm gonna be the star of a Clicker Training Demo being held at ARF's annual adopt-a-thon on April 30th. Can't wait. Mom says I'm gonna just do what I always do, except get paid the big bucks (treats) for doing it, and people will all watch me and think I'm smart or something. How cool is that? I've got it all planned already. Gonna give hugs, shake paws, roll over, walk well on leash and maybe some doggie push ups if I feel up to it. Think I'll break out the bow tie for this event. YESSS!!!!
Momma's mad at me a bit- I got skunked in the face, right in the eye, and after she cleaned me up and took care of me, she called me "stinky"; then the smell in the house was so bad she had an asthma attack, and she doesn't even have asthma. I'm sorry I stink, I can't help myself, I love those cute little skunks and I wanted to give him a hug. I know better, but I still won't be able to stop myself from going for the next one I see..... cliff
