Arrival Story:
I was working as a dog groomer at a pet store a few years ago. The county animal shelter brought dogs and cats up there every saturday for adopt-a-thons. Once, they came on a sunday because Jack's time was up at the shelter and he was going to be put to sleep the next day if he wasn't adopted. Another groomer asked if I would give him a bath and fix him up so someone would want him. At the end of the day, he had not been adopted, and I couldn't let such a cute and sweet dog be put to sleep just because no one wanted him. I took him as a foster pet until he was adopted. We bonded very quickly and he became very protective of me within the first 2 days. When Jack was adopted, I think he knew he knew something was going on because he started losing his hair (not his winter coat) and seemed stressed out. The guy who adopted him kept him for about 2 days and brought him back because he shed too much and he was chewing everything up! Of course, I took him back. He was so happy to see me! He stopped shedding and chewing things up after that. There were several people interested in him over the next few months, but none took him. By that time, I was very attached to him and he and my other dog (Luna) had become inseperable. I couldn't separate them or give him up. He officially became a member of my family after I fostered him for about 5 months.

Bio:
Jack has been in an animal shelter 3 different times. He was originally taken to the first one because he was chasing chickens on a farm. (typical of the Husky in him!) He was adopted and brought back to that shelter, then adopted again and taken to another shelter which is where he came to me from. I couldn't have asked for a better dog! Jack is spoiled rotten now. He use to be an outside dog. Now, he is inside and won't even go outside if it's raining or step on the grass if it's wet! However, he loves to run and I love watching him chase the wind when he takes off in a crazy sprint. Jack is very playful, affectionate, intelligent, and stubborn! He learns fast, but loses focus quickly. Training sessions have to be very short. He is also very vocal. He likes to talk when he plays and is not quiet when he wants something or isn't happy about something. Jack is independant, but loves his mommy. He isn't always right next to me, but he never lets me out of his sight. He loves to cuddle and soaks it up when I pull him in my lap and cradle him like a baby. Although he weighs almost 65 pounds, he sleeps on the pillow next to me every night and won't lay down if the pillow isn't there! Talk about spoiled!
