 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: May 16th 2006
Likes: Love, love and more love

Pet-Peeves: Making him learn manners right now!

Favorite Toy: A green froggie, anything that has (or had) a squeaker in it, or.......balls!

Favorite Food: Mom gives us the BARF diet, I love it all!

Favorite Walk: He's still learning about walking next to mom and dad, so anywhere!

Best Tricks: I love to toss my toy in the air and catch it, will shake hands, and can just about climb a tree to get one of my toys out of it! (how do they get there anyway?)

Arrival Story: Buster is a Katrina rescue. A woman I work with was contacted by a rescuer who pulled Katrina dogs out of a Santa Fe shelter. Because he had some fear aggression they were looking for a dog trainer to help him along and foster him. Then, once he had manners help him find a forever home.
I spoke with this rescuer as well as the woman who was fostering him in Mission Viejo. She sent me pictures and we spoke on the phone. The rest is history.
We traveled from Las Vegas to Barston to pick him up. A half way point for us both. We got acquainted and played for an hour and he crawled into my heart.
He doesn't have to worry about finding a forever home. He's found it already.

Bio: He started as Connick but became Buster. Ok, it's short for busted levee. Figured he'd be a Buster or Levee. Buster fits! He's had a tough time of it since Katrina, landing in his first shelter in Texas last September. He's come a long way to get to us.

Forums Motto: I survived Katrina..I can take anything!

it's been so long since she wrote anything about me. She could tell you lot's of stuff about her, but one of the things that happened is that Mom, me and Nellie were in a 3 car accident. We were the middle car so Nellie and I got bounced around alot. I was scared but glad to be safe in my crate. Even the nice police man said it was good th at we were crated. He said they see too many doggies that aren't.
It's been a good year with my family. We get along pretty good. Nellie and I play alot. Once in awhile Maggie will play with me, but it seems that when either Nellie or Maggie join the fun it all breaks up.
I have more toys than you can imagine. The first thing I do is throw them in the air and see if they fly. If they can't fly then I look for the squeeky thing. I'm pretty sure if that's gone then the toy can fly! And if that doesn't work...well there's always taking the stuffing out!
Mom and Dad say I have one very bad habit and they are working hard with me on this one. I don't know why, but if tall men try to pet me, or reach under my chin I get all ascared and bite them. I don't mean to, and I'm sorry as soon as I do it. Because of that, I have to wear a muzzle when I'm in the front yard or out with the public.
Mom and Dad said this is my forever home and I guess they mean it. And I"ll try to be better, I promise.

Can you believe I've been in my new home for one whole week?! Sometimes it seems like I've been here forever. But then I remember the shelter, and the kennels and all those barking dogs. It's so nice here. I have TWO crates and they both have pillows and soft blankets for me. And toys....oh my there's a gi-hugic basket of toys! Some squeak and some bounce and some I just like to chew into pieces. Mom isn't crazy about that part but she really doesn't scold me.
This week I did a bunch of stuff. I got to go to work with Mom. It's fun being with her. Sometimes we stop at parks and I practice placing on some really big rocks. Some are really tall but I can jump right on them! The hard part is staying there when Mom walks away from me. I like to be right next to her side. She says that if I place on my rock, then she knows I'm safe and that I'm learning confidence too. And at home, that hole in the wall...Mom and Dad call it a doggy door. And guess what? I can go in and outside ANY time I want!! How cool is that? One time Mom was busy in the house and I lifted my leg and pottied on the door. Mom didn't like that, nope...not one little bit. She told me OFF! and helped me go outside. Then she walked me around some trees and bushes and told me that was a better place to go potty. Okey dokey! I think maybe I get that. And now that I can use my door and can go outside and potty anytime I need to!
Oh, and when I was with Mom at work I met lots of other dogs. Some are really tiny...I think one was a doxie? And a really, really big dog but I don't remember what kind. Just a dog! Mom was talking with this man and he pet me and played with me too! He thinks that maybe I'm not a german shepherd and rottie mix. I'd be a bunch bigger if I was. He thinks I'm Sharpei and Rottie. My tongues is almost purple looking...mostly dark and not really pink. My hair doesn't really get wet, the water just beads up on it. And Ashton says my bark is classic Sharpei. I dunno...I just know I'm a happy boy these days!
So I'm starting to learn manners. That's a good thing! Sometimes when I'm playing with Dad I use my mouth to push him around. Dad says "off" to me and then I don't use my mouth. Sometimes I forget when I'm having fun. And guess what I saw last night?! Cats!! Lots of cats! They were on the other side of the fence just teasing me. So I did what a doggie has to do.....I ran to the fence and barked and they went away! Then they came back! So I chased them again! Maggie and Nellie helped me. We make a good team.
Mom and Dad are real good to us dogs. We get lots of pets, lots of love, bunches of toys too! It's good here. I hope I can stay.

Today Mom put me in the car with her. I was with her all day! How neat is that? We met some other dogs that I don't know. We went to a bunch of parks too. Mom said she was teaching me manners. I don't know what a manner is but I guess I'll find out.
Today I learned not to pull on the leash when I walk. It's better when I walk close to Mom. And know what else? I can jump on walls and rocks! I'm not a-scared at all. It's lot's of fun. And sometimes Mom sprays me with water too. That feels really good. I get so hot and that water cools me off.
Mom is so good to me. When she gets out of the car she even leaves the cooling thing on. I really like that! Sometimes Mom goes to people's houses and trains their dogs! Gosh, I thought it was just me she was teaching. How lucky am I?
So today I was in the car a lot. But I played a bunch too. And when we got home I got a bone of my very own! Now I'm just gonna rest in my crate and chew on it for a little bit. Talk to you later!
Oh and you may have wondered why my birthday is May 16th. It's cuz Mom and Dad said that's the day I found my forever home!
