Another game of indoor soccer was cut short before I was ready to quit! Is there ANYBODY out there who would play soccer with me all day everyday? I got a large stuffed squeaky ball (think basketball sized!) for Christmas, and every day I bug Mom until she stops what she is doing and plays soccer with me in the living room. We have crates set up as goals, one at each end of the room, (the room is 25' x 40', so we have *room* to play) and the girls just sit back and watch the action. Just as we get going good, and things start getting exciting, Mom has to stop playing!
The rules are that I can use my mouth and all four feet, but Mom has to play with her front paws in her pockets, and she doesn't wanna use her mouth for some reason. I tried telling her she would be a better player if she did, but she won't.
Every time I get the ball back from Mom, I shake it really hard, and squeak it just to show off. Today, I discovered I can toss it into the air and catch it again! Even Mom had to admit that was the BEST move yet! All you have to do is toss your head backward, and let go of the ball at just the right time, then grab it as it comes back down!
So anyway, Mom is old and handicapped, so I really need a new soccer buddy. Any volunteers? The benefits are worth it, believe me! We get to make lots of noise; make a mess of the house; and con Mom out of treats, cause all that exercise really makes a guy HUNGRY! Oh, and we get to take naps whenever we feel like it, too!
Mom is waiting for my ball to get dry so she can sew it back up, because this morning, I discovered, the ball is filled with... STUFFY filling! YES! So of course I had to pull a bunch of it out! She just doesn't understand the need to DO that! So, now she says she is gonna stitch it up for me, and wash it, too, since it IS pretty gross.
She told Kim last night that she is going to buy me a REAL soccer ball this week, so that it can be wiped off when it gets icky, and I can play with it outside too. I keep trying to get away with taking my stuffed one outside, but they keep taking it away before I can get out the door with it. Guess they don't understand that ALL official soccer balls must be muddy at some point in their lives!

We docked last night, returnin' from our cruise to Hawaii- we all had a wonderful time! As soon as we got off the boat, we noticed a wonderful aroma waftin' from the clubhouse kitchen- somebody very special (Haze, Sawyer, and Godiva's Mommy!!) had planned ahead and made us a wonderful dinner of smothered chicken and rice! And topped it off with sweet potato pie for dessert! Soon after that, I just had to go home and get some sleep- you know how we mastiffs are with a full tummy!
We really didn't do much fishin' even though the trip was originally planned as a fishin' trip. We brought along Muffin's goldfish though, so they would not be lonely. We decided on the way out to drop anchor and float for the next two days, just 24 hours away from the big island to watch the Perseid Meteor showers. It was a wonderful night- we all slept out on deck and watched natures fireworks. The best part about those fireworks? No noise!
Once we got to the island, we had several adventures, lots of fun, and a couple unexpected mysteries to solve. We all work so well together, we had no trouble solvin' them, and managed to bring everyone back home safely.
Our August photo stroll contest wound up yesterday- so many beautiful photos were entered, it was hard to decide just which ones were the best. It took some time and effort but we finally did it- the judges agreed that every single one was a winner!
I suspect the pups are going to want to camp out in the tree house tonight, so I will be stayin' with them, just to keep an eye on them. They are great kids- each one of them is growin' up nicely. I'm just glad I got to spend last night at home in my own bed after all that time sleepin' in a cabin on the ship! Kinda makes me a bit wobbly on my feet now that we are back on dry ground, after gettin' used to the rockin' of the ship under our feet!
There is no way around it- we have absolutely the best group of pups on all of dogster- it makes my heart smile to think of them all. (Sorry, Miss Bea, I had to borrow your words- nothin' else is quite as accurate!)
So, until I write again, have fun, and play nicely!

Stay tuned- looks like me 'n my pals are headin' out soon for a brand new adventure! What started out as a plan to take the young'uns on a fishin' trip has turned into me rentin' a luxury cruise ship and takin' the whole gang!
Since August is Luau on the Beach month at the clubhouse, its only fittin' that we head out for an adventure somewhere near Hawaii- I am sure the ladies will have that boat decorated well before we set sail!
There will be surfin', swimmin', bonfires, singin', dancin', flame dancin', hula girls (& maybe GUYS), and who knows WHAT else might happen! We have such a great bunch that we are guaranteed to have tons of fun no matter where we are or what we are doin'!
