Arrival Story:
I always wanted a dog but never got one until now. My family has a wheaten and I dreamed about a wheaten terrier of my very own, until I met a lakeland. A breed more stubborn than myself. "perfect". After much research and contemplation I called the US lakeland terrier club for help. I knew it was not going to be easy to find a lakie of my own. I was very lucky to find my girl in California, not close, but at least a trip that did not require three planes to get there. We are so lucky to have her and are well aware of her criminal intent. She is a wonderful dog and we hope she will get her JE, AKC CH, CDC, and then she can go anywhere she pleases.

Bio:
We live in sunny california near the beach. We love the weather here and there is always somewhere to go. Brookie is an avid swimmer & squirrel chaser and loves to travel by air, land, & sea. My mom takes me to obedience and conformation classes twice a week and I am becoming a great little earthdog. I am going to enter my first dog show in Long Beach this year. I hope to win all the puppy sweeps I can enter, I am a pretty girl.

Forums Motto:
no, I am not a real dog. I am stuffed.

earthdog:
what is an earthdog? small terriers were bred to go to ground. You see "terrier' means "terre" = earth. Earthdog is when the AKC or other clubs sanction tests to see how well our natural insticts are preserved within the breeds. Whether we were bred for badger hunting, otter, or fox we now have to suffice w/ rats. We see those rats in the cage and we are supposed to go crazy. We should bark dig scratch to get 'em. Then they add the tunnels this is where it gets harder.

earthdog part 2:
First- "intro to quarry" no ribbons, we gotta just feign interest & want to go through those dark tunnels. then we might try JE or junior earthdog. 30' of dark tunnels & we gotta bark & scratch dig "work the rats" for 30 secs. We have to sucessfully complete 2 runs to get a title. Don't worry those rats are quite safe from us terriers. It get more complicated as the we gain higher titles, false turns, dead ends RECALL for a terrier. I'll keep you up on my trials & tribulations.

showdog:
here we go, I'm entered in my first real dog show. Yuma Arizona, I can tell my mom is a bit nervous. I will tell you how it goes.

losing brookie:
Oh how my heart aches losing such a young dog tragically. Brookie was too sweet for this world. She had such promise and we will always remember her and how she cuddled in my arms.

Losing a dog

A while ago we lost our darling beautiful Brookie. This has been one of the most difficult things for our family. We just loved her so much. She was let out of our backyard and was hit by a passing car. I cried and cried. I will always love her and am thankful for the short time she was a part of our lives.

AKC tests for earthdog. oops.... Intro to quarry race in the tunnel find the rats start barking. The rats are not moving. I look at them instead. What boring rats.
JE-missed the tunnel entirely went straight for the judge. He had a small hand broom. I love to kill brooms. he though he was scaring me away. No way, kill the broom kill the broom. Failure to work the quarry. What test?
This was much more fun than rats.
Mom made me wear this stupid costume. It was okay other welshies were much more unhappy in their chinese silk outfits and topknots with chopsticks. they won and they looked more miserable than me. We will try again soon.

Maybe they won't get dog broken rats next time. These rats were on valium.
