Arrival Story: It had been a few years since we lost YaYa, I was still not sure if I was ready for another pup to be in the house. But my brother's friend's mom had seen a small, young pup being abused and uncared for in a back yard near where she lived. The house was supposedly breeding them and Tessa was the last one left. She had been outside for days in the summer heat on a short chain with no visible food and you could see her bones. So the woman kept an eye on the house, and one day walked back there and took Tessa. After having a dog that shed a lot my mother was not sure about a new baby either, but it turned out that Tessa had hair not fur, she was a Cockapoo. My brother brought her home, we all fell in love, I named her Tessa and we worked with her from there. She was very malnourished, she had some ribs that needed healing, she was afraid to go through doors (we think they slammed her in them, hence the rib injuries) and she was scared of woman too; that meant me and my mom. But by the first week, she was sleeping in my bed with me, and she stayed there with me until I moved out on my own. Tessa's death was sudden and tragic. She ate tons of weird things as some dogs do. She was fine early on a Saturday morning, then she suddenly started vomiting, and it would not stop. We rushed her to our vet. They started working on her and running tests, she had eaten a tube of chapstick the week before casing and all......certain lab levels were not abnormal though, so then they took xrays, but as they tried to, she started pouring stool and blood out of her and they needed to control that first and stabalize her. By Sunday morning, April 23, 2006, she passed on to the Rainbow Bridge. The last set of xrays showed a blockage in her intestine, it looked like a white cloth. In our backyard underneath where the squirrels were building a nest we found chewed pieces of what looks like to be one of those swiffer type clothes. We do not use them, but the squirrels found them somewhere and if she was chasing them like she usually did, they dropped it and for some reason she chewed it up. She did not show any signs or anything until just that morning. She was jumping at the door and begging my dad for treats early in the morning. It was the most devistating lost. The vet said she would have lived to 20, she was such a puppy spirit. We celebrated her birthday on July 4th after my great grandmother, they were both little and had curly hair. 7/4/95 -4/23/06

Bio: Tessa loved to dance as long as you held her, she loved to be held like a baby over your shoulder. She would stretch out across the bed so you almost fall out of it. She loved to give kisses. She decided that she got treats for everything, for going outside, for when you came home, for company visiting, for desert, because you woke up and she was not there to see it; she was very creative.
