Playing, grooming, treats!
Her puppy brother (a boxer shepherd mix) - especially if he has a bone she wants.
Anything that can be thrown and retreived for another throw!
CHEESE! But she settles for NutroMax Light mixed with a little ProPlan Light Canned.
Up and down our street, except past that WEIRD house that she doesn't like.
Flinging water on her dry food with her nose if I don't add enough canned!
Tootie (formerly known as Katie) is a rescue dog. Her original owners were an elderly couple - both passed away within a very short time of each other, which left Tootie with the daughter-in-law, who hated her. (How could she?!?) The daughter took Tootie from the daughter-in-law and gave her to a rescue in Ohio. I found the rescue on Petfinder.com, and proceeded to contact them regarding a Corgi. I've wanted one since I was about 7 years old and read a book about them. After several attempts and missing out on a few Corgis, we finally arranged for a transport for Tootie, and on March 11, I brought her home! She's the dog I've wanted for most of my life!
Today is Thursday, August 30, 2007. This evening, at 6:15 p.m., Tootie crossed the Rainbow Bridge with the help of our vet. After a short bout of diarrhea, which improved and she seemed to be feeling better, she suddenly took a turn for the worse and became very weak, stopped eating, and started drinking large amounts of water, which she couldn't always keep down. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocystic Leukemia with Secondary Renal Failure this evening, and we made the terribly difficult decision to let Tootie cross the Rainbow Bridge than to suffer a moment longer with what would end up being a painful, fatal disease. I had only had Tootie living with me for a little over a year....but it was a wonderful year, and I will never forget her.
