Arrival Story: Cosmo had been in the shelter for a month. (Potential adopters thought he was too big). Some volunteers asked me to just go take a look at him. We had just lost Sparkle-dog and weren't ready to adopt, but Cosmo won my heart and of course I wanted him. When I want back to the shelter to adopt him, he had been moved to isolation and had extremely bad kennel cough. I had to have him hospitalized three times, but he eventually got over the upper respiratory problems and hasn't been sick since. I'll never forget when I looked in on him in the shelter isolation ward and his tail just started wagging.....it hasn't stopped since then!
Bio: Cosmo has appeared in a number of local and national publications and has a ballad written in his honor...."The Ballad of Cosmo James!"

Forums Motto:
So today, Mom and Dad took me to Cosmo's Bakery (no relation-that Cosmo's a cat!). There were vet techs and a vet there cleaning the teeth of dogs and cats without anesthesia. It was great! Two nice ladies petted and scratched me and rolled me over on my back. One of them sat at my feet and rubbed my belly while the other one held my head in her lap (I think she had a crush on me....). The one at my head opened my mouth and scratched at my teeth and gums with the sharp thingie. It didn't hurt at all though. And the belly rubs kept coming... Believe it or not, the whole time I was there, there other patients getting their teeth cleaned were CATS! They meowed unceasingly, which was pretty annoying to me, especially since I was not allowed to chase them or even sniff them out!
After 1/2 hour, they took me out to Mom and showed her my nice white teeth. Mom says I look even more handsome than usual and she is happy that I did not have to be put under.
I can hardly wait to show of my pearly white fangs at doggie daycare! BOL!!
I have found a new way to guilt Mom into taking me for a walk. She seems to think that if we play three or more games of fetch in the yard, that is sufficient exercise for me. I love fetch, but I still want my walks. I mean, I have pee mail to check on and bushes to mark throughout the neighborhood. Not walking has a negative effect on my social networking system!!
So, yesterday when Mom threw out the ball for the first time. I just caught it and took it inside the house. Three times. So, Mom gave up and took me for a walk. Then we played fetch later in the day!!
Peeps are very easy to train, if you are consistent with them! BOL!
...Mom signed the paperwork to make me legally her dog! It is my HAPPY ADOPTION DAY!!! To celebrate, I am going to the Animal Hospital to give blood. Now that may not sound like fun, but I assure you, it is!! I get loved up by three vet techs the whole time while being fed delicious treats. And when Mom picks me up, I get to put my head into a big bag of toys and pick out what ever one I want! I want a chance to give back to my community, since nice Animal Control Officers picked me up from the highway where I was wandering and took me to the shelter. At the shelter, the volunteers walked me, played with me and even groomed me. When no one adopted me (gasp!) they called Mom to come and look at me and thereby hangs a tail! BOL!
There is talk of special Frosty Paws treats tonight!!!!!!
