Arrival Story:
After my two wheaten babies, Jessie and Miles, both died in 2000, I was unable to even think of getting another dog. Then one day a friend, who had lost her wheaten a few weeks before, told me she was getting a wheaten puppy from someone in a nearby town. I thought that was great - for her - and wondered who this person could be that I didn't know who had wheaten puppies! Later that same week someone else mentioned "this man with his wheaten puppies". I was very curious. The next week I saw my friend and she said she'd picked her puppy up, I went to see the pup. She was a perfect little wheatie! I thought, should I call my breeder and find out about this man? Should I call my husband and ask what he thinks? And I thought No - I should call this man with the puppies because maybe he doesn't even have anymore and then I don't have to think about it. Well, he did still have puppies. As I explained that I wasn't sure I was ready to accept another dog into my life, his support and the obvious love he had for his dogs made me decide to go take a peek. When I got home from work, I told my husband - who was thrilled because he was ready for another dog. As we drove in to the yard of "this man who had the wheaten puppies" the Mom and Dad came running out to greet us. They reminded me so much of my Jessie and Miles, I had to love them! And then he took us to see the puppies. There was this one little guy who came right up to us, while the others played. After talking with the owner for a while, he said "I'll leave you alone so you can decide if you want to do this" ... I looked at my husband and said "I think we have." We left that evening with our little guy. If someone had asked me that morning if I were ready to get another dog I would have said No. But all the stars and energy aligned making us ready to accept Riley into our lives.

Riley's parents and siblings all lived in the immediate area for the first couple years of his life. Most have now moved away, except his sister who is his best doggy friend!

Happy Birthday to me! And my sister, Clara, and any other siblings out there, but sadly I've lost track of where they are.
Mom made me special pumpkin cookies this morning with rice flour, since I don't eat wheat, and Dad took me for a ride in the truck. We went to the cottage and played outside! It was fun! Woof Woof for now!

Just back from vacation at my sister Clara's house while Mom and Dad went to the beach. I am sad when they go, but I have so much fun with Clara it makes it OK.
Next weekend Clara comes here! That will be fun.
woof woof for now

Today is my birthday! Woof!

I hoped to play with my sister today, but it is very rainy so I think it will be a lazy day around home instead. That's OK. I went out in the rain first thing this morning then went back to bed with Mom. Maybe Dad will take me for a ride in his truck later! Woof woof!

I know it will be a good day.
