What do I say about my Precious Michelle? People think I am describing her when I say “Precious” Michelle, but those people don’t know her. The word precious was created just to describe my baby. She came to us at 4 months. We were to puppy-sit one night, and then she was going to a sitter, while the owner went out of state for a week or so. The puppy-sitter was nowhere to be found, and the neighborhood was less than desirable! We decided we could keep her the week or so, and make sure she was safe. It didn’t take long to fall in love with this little love bug. She has always wanted to please more than she wanted to breathe. The owner did not come back for 4 months, and then wanted to reclaim her! Over my dead body! By then she had been spayed and chipped, and enrolled in day care. She had her seat on the couch and in the truck, and a space on our bed. We live on 10 acres, with 1 acre fenced in for the dogs. And he thought he was going to waltz in here, claim our baby, and go live with anyone that would give him a place to sleep. No life for a dog!

We nearly lost Precious a couple of times last year, but she is a little fighter. We spent many days and nights together, just touching. She had what is comparable to vertigo in humans, among other ailments. She was extremely dizzy for 2 weeks, so I kept a hand on her at all times so she would know she was “grounded” with mama. The vet is still amazed at the recovery she made, and how she continues to fight the complications that has arisen from her illnesses.

She may be daddy’s girl, but she is mama’s little angel!

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
The stockings where hung by the chimney with care
In the hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there

But at the North Pole sudden changes arose
All down to Rudolph and his ruby red nose
Clipboard in hand, a breed expert arrived
He motioned to Santa saying," please step aside".

A smooth haired coat and a muscular build
A broad deep chest our Rudolph did yield
The breed expert's pen, created pages of ticks
Then he suddenly called out "good lord, we've been tricked!"

"This creatures no donkey and clearly no horse!
I know these things! I've attended the course!"
Look at my clipboard the boxes are full!
It's very obvious to me: Rudolph is a pit bull!

Out with the measuring sticks, he explained to Santa the law
And he measured poor Rudolph from shoulder to floor.
As the spectacle continued Santa said with a sigh
He's a reindeer you fool! Why must he die?

"The law is the law" the expert said standing tall,
Then picked up his mobile and made a quick call
The sound of sirens filled the peaceful night air
and Rudolph removed ...to who knew where?

Days turned too weeks and confused and alone
Rudolph pined, for the place he called home
As the first snow started falling Rudolph gave up the fight
And he took his last breath on a cold winters night

You may think this is funny, if a little untrue.
But how would you like it, if it happened to you?
If your dog was taken because of its look...
Because it ticked enough boxes in some silly book?

Regardless of parentage it doesn't matter what breed
If it ticks enough boxes then it's a done deed
So humor me here and pretend this is true
Think how you would feel if it happened to you.

Cuddle your hounds while you have them close by
For some spend this Christmas, waiting to die.
Now back to the story, it doesn't end there
One more short verse I need to share

Santa fetched Rudolph's body and cried for his friend
And swore to himself, this would not be the end
And I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight
"The law is wrong, please help us to fight!"

The Bravest of the Brave

Tonight I want to tag the bravest of the brave. (I wrote these last night, then did not post them.)

I am "Love Tagging" Sammy J. and his family because they deserve more love than will fit in this world. There are no words worthy, so just know they are loved.

I am "Love Tagging" Angel Joy. What this family has been through must be what hell is like. And yet, they keep spreading dogster love. I think of Joy often, and weep.

I am "Love Tagging" Hope. For her to overcome all she has is almost unbelievable. I cannot believe pups that have been through hell can be so lovable.

I am "Love Tagging" Cheyenne because I feel she has learned to be brave. I feel if she is not on her way home, that she is being very well taken care of. We have to believe this.

I am "Love Tagging" Gromit because he is learning to live without Zoe, even though she took a part of him with her. His family will always show their love for her to other pups.

I am "Love Tagging" Teddi Sue for obvious reasons. She did not give up!

I am sure there are many more, but these are my picks tonight.
