Arrival Story:
Keelo (or formerly known at the shelter as #46), we think is a black and tan coonhound mix. He was found wandering the streets of Mountlake Terrace, north of Seattle. He ended up in a “cell” at Bellevue Animal Control, and was there for 6 days before we walked in the door. When we got to the shelter, we spotted a German Shepherd mix that we were interested in, but it was the dog in the kennel next to him who stole our hearts with his cute whimpering (which we later realized, was a sign of a little anxiety issue he has). While we were visiting with him, the thing that I remember most was he rolled over on his back, allowing us, complete strangers, to scratch his belly. That was when I knew that Keelo was the dog for us.

Bio:
We’ve had Keelo for three years now, ever since he was a year old, and we’ve watched him develop his personality, and especially his confidence. The one word that best describes him is “fearless”. He has the athletic aptitude and grace of a whippet, with the focus, drive, and work ethic of a german shepherd. He’s very conscientious and courteous around other dogs. He doesn’t have any aggressive tendencies, and tries to avoid any confrontations with others. He has 2 surrogate siblings at home that he loves, although he’ll never admit to it. At the park, he’s like the big brother who won’t acknowledge his kid brother in public because he’s “too cool” to be associated with the smaller dogs. We’re very proud of his perseverance through 3 obedience and 3 agility classes despite his anxiety issues.
