Arrival Story:
I told a friend a few months ago that my old Freddie and Maggie dogs were really getting up in age and I was worried for my last rescue, Bella, not having anyone to really play with. Early in April my friend told me of a young Aussie that a friend of hers had taken in as a temporary holding home and would I be interested in her. The pup had just gotten out of the vet's office where she had been for about 10 weeks after being hit by a *car. *SEE ADD'L BIO INFO. She had been kept in a coma to reduce the swelling in her brain. I said sure, I'd love to see her. They brought her to me on Sunday, April 9th. We walked together to the back of my property and I said, yep, this little girl belongs here with me. She's a wonderful and very sweet little girl and she's absolutely found her furever home!!

Bio:
6/9/06. I just found out that the Animal Control officer that found Mia "staggering" down the street told the lady at the vet's office that they didn't feel that Mia had been hit by a car, they did think, considering that there were no scrapes, abrasions, broken bones etc but that she had SEVERE head trauma that she had either been repeatedly kicked in the head or possibly hit in the head with a bat or something similar. Mia had a tag on so Animal Control was able to locate her "owners" and required them to pay for her treatment. They wanted to charge them with animal cruelty but didn't have enough proof to do so. Mia has issues with anyone she doesn't know, especially teenaged boys and some men. It's all beginning to make sense now. I absolutely adore Mia and she'll always be loved and cared for. Hopefully, in time, she'll forget the pain she suffered at the hands of her UN-HUMAN first owners.

My Second Anniversary!

Woofers everyone! This is my first diary and I thought it would be good to do it because this is the second anniversary of me coming to my furever Mom's home! When I came here I didn't know how to play or be a happy fur-girl, but now, I play with all the toys and balls and I run and bark and jump in Mom's lap and go for rides and walks and, and, and just everything! Before Mom adopted me my name was Trixie. Somehow Mom just didn't think I looked like a Trixie and besides, she wanted me to disassociate will all the bad stuff in my past so she named me Mia. Mom said that was because I was "hers" now, I guess Mia means "mine" or "my". Anyway, it sort of went with my fur-sister's name, Bella. Mom's so silly, she puts on this funny voice (she said it's Italian) and runs around calling Bella Mia! I really love my furever home, I hate that I had to get hurt really bad by my ugly first UN-human owners but I survived and look at me now!! Mom said that she was taking Bella, Taco and I to the park after while. I'm still careful around Taco, she don't like me and Bella much and she takes every opportunity to bite our noses but hey, she runs the house along with Mom and she is our sister so Bella and I respect her authority... don't like it though BOL! Gotta run now, yappy day!! Woofers, Mia
