Arrival Story: When we came up to SLC for one of my class reunions we stayed at my husbands cousin's (Phyllis) house. She had 2 toy poodles that I just adored and made a comment that I would love to have one just like them. After returning home to AZ we got a call from Phyllis that she had a puppy for me as a gift. Misty had been bred and had a litter of 5. And I got to have the pick of the litter and chose Snuggles. When she was 10 weeks old we drove back up to UT to pick-up her and a sister (Buttons), that a friend of mine purchased from Phyllis.
Bio: September 10, 1988 - April 3, 2005
Snuggles was a wonderful gift from the breeder. Which was a total surprise because her pedigree of 15 generations was all USA, Canadian and International Grand Champions. The first thing Snuggles did when we picked her up as to climb from her and her sister's box on the floor to my shoulder and snuggle my neck and face. She was so tiny that for quite a while she slept on my shoulder with her little head tucked in at my neck. Snuggles was one of a kind. She was very loving and only wanted to please us. She was Momma's girls to the end. She learned many tricks quickly. And was absolutely darling when she danced, turning around 360 degrees numerous times with ease. She shook hands, gave high fives, fetched toys, and mothered all the pack mates and even "purred" while being petted. Ya! "purred". My husband taught her and her birth mother to "purr" (hum/moan-what ever you want to call it~but it sounded like she was purring) to show us that they enjoyed getting their tummys, backs, hips and shoulders rubbed. She was an excellent little watch dog but was not yappy. At 16 1/2 years old Snuggles had cataracts on both eyes, and was going deaf, she was sleeping most of the day. We had a dog door that she used to go outside when ever she wanted. On April 3, 2005 while I was sleeping Snuggles went outside and according to the vet either had a heart attack or a stroke and fell into the garden pond and drowned. I still cry and feel guilty that I wasn't awake to keep an eye on her and prevent this terrible accident. She knew exactly where the pond was and had always avoided it but not that day. I miss her so much. She was a wonderful companion and helped me get through breast and lung cancer surgery, broken ribs diabetes crisis the loss of her younger brother, birth mother and pack mate Rags. I had her and her brother cremated and they will be buried with me when the time comes. I Love and miss you Snug-a-bugs " Momma's girl".
