Helping with housework

Helping with housework can be hazardous to a pup's health!
I try to do my best to help around the house, so when Mommy started cleaning this morning, I was right there with her. I have more of a supervisory position. I watched as Mommy vacuumed off the cat hairs and grass from the couch and loveseat. I had to point out several hairs that she overlooked.
I was doing such a good job while she was sweeping the kitchen floor, she kept sweeping me out of the way!
On to the bathrooms. She used a rag and some spray stuff on most of the stuff in there. I was watching her clean the toilet deal. I am just the right size to peek over the rim while she swished a brush around in the water.
Now here is where it got scary. She said, "Zoe, your fuzzy little face would do a better job at cleaning the pot than this old worn out brush!" She grabbed me by my little hind legs and started swirling me around! Up and down, around and around I went until the blood was rushing into my head and I was all dizzy. She finally put me down on all fours. I staggered around getting my balance and then I got outta that bathroom. Can you believe it?!
I need a nap.
It will be awhile before I help Mommy with housework!

Mommy's Little Helper

I heard Mommy tell brother that they needed to get out and pick peas while it was still cool outside. I am a good helper. I was out there, all on my own, picking peas. Now like I said in another diary entry, those peas are hard to pick. I am accidentally pulling up the whole plant. I have seen Mommy doing that. She hollered and told me to stop. I am not appreciated around here.

Here's another thing I do that I Know Mommy likes. When she is sitting on that white chair thingie where the humans go potty, I come in and keep her company. If she forgets to let Drover and me in, we scratch and whine at the door. If she just barely closes the door, we just push it open. Now when she is sitting there, here's what I do. I hop my little front feet up on her lap and throw my head back as far as I can without falling over backwards. Then she scratches my neck and picks out the sleepys from my eyes. I know she likes for me to do this because she always laughs and tells me I am silly.

A dog named Notme

We have some real pretty flowers growing in our yard. We had some blue ones and some purple ones and some little yellow ones. They aren't blooming right now. Right now we have orange ones and yellow ones.
Some of the yellow ones are just right next to our steps. Someone is biting those pretty yellow flowers off the stems and just kinda chewing them into pieces! The yellow parts are being left all over the yard!
Mommy has asked us dogs if we know who is doing this. I haven't seen the dog but I know it's name: Notme.

Call out the National Guard!

We are on Alert around here. Two sightings just this morning! Yep, I heard Mommy talking to Daddy on the phone. I know it was Daddy. He's the only one that Mommy calls "Hon". And he is in the National Guard.
We need some fire power around here, break out the big guns. Somebody do something! Let's all run around screaming! Porcupine!
Drover and me can smell something along the one side of our yard. We know there was an intruder! Mommy saw 2 porcupines or one porcupine twice. Last sighting was the big ol' lilac on the other side of the driveway!
Don't worry about me, pups. I am not allowed over there unless I am on my leash. I will wait until my Daddy gets home later today. He will take care of that ol' moving sticker bush. Mommy's feeble attempt at spraying water into the lilac was useless. At least she got the kitties into the garage.
My National Guard soldier Daddy will know just what to do. Updates as they become available.

I was outside helping my family with the after mowing chore of raking and picking up the piles of grass. I got stung on my paw! It hurts and I am holding up my paw.
Mommy brought me inside and tried to put a cold blue thing on my paw. I didn't like to hold still for that. I did a better job licking it myself. I did rest for awhile with the cold blue thing. Then I was able to have a little bit of popcorn. I am going to bed now. I am tired.

Feelin' better!

Hey pups!
I wanted to let all of you know that I'm feeling much better today- the sting in my paw isn't bothering me at all! I wasn't feeling good last night, so I didn't write much. I thought I'd tell some more details on how I got the sting.

Well, like I said, I was helping my family rake and pick up grass. Pretty soon, a wasp came flying over, and he tried to take some of the grass! Now, that's our grass, and I told that ol' wasp so. He didn't listen, though, so I had to box him to make him go away. Well, I beat him up pretty good, and he left without taking our grass, but he did manage to sting me once on my paw. That hurt!

Mommy noticed that I was licking my paw and limping, so she took me inside to look at it. She sat down on the couch, snuggled me, and tried to put a cold blue thing on my paw. I didn't like the cold blue thing very much. After awhile, Sister and Brother came in and snuggled with me too. Sister kept trying to put that cold thing on my paw too.

I was pretty tired, so I laid down on the couch. Pretty soon, though, we had popcorn! I got some, then I went to bed.

Today, my paw's hardly hurting at all! I can walk on it just fine, and I'm feeling lots better. I'm ready to defend the place against any new wasps that come along!

I am not supposed to take my inside toys outside or bring my outside toys inside. But I pulled a fast one on Mommy today.
I have a pink pig named Mr. Darcy. I got him awhile back right after we had watched the BBC version of "Pride and Prejudice". My daddy and brother were gone, so us girls got to watch lots of chic flics. Hee hee.
Anyway, that's how Mr. Darcy got his name from the guy on the show.
So, I was playing with Mr. Darcy this morning when the barking alert went off. Cindy was outside sounding the alarm. Drover and me rushed out for backup. I still had Mr. Darcy in my mouth. I carried him over to the barking post on one side of the yard and commenced my barking alarm. My bark was there but muffled. I just kept on barking until we didn't need to anymore. Mommy called us back in and of course, I brought Mr. Darcy inside.
I have been working on this for awhile and can also bark while I am eating my breakfast.
I think Mommy is pretty proud of me with my M.A.S. (muffled alert system).

What'd they do without me?

I don't know what Cindy or Drover would do without me! I have to- well, first things first.

We have three computers in the house, one for Mom, one for Brother, and one for Sister. The one Brother uses is actually Daddy's computer, but Daddy is usually at work during the day, so Brother can use it. I don't see what it is about the computers, but my family can just sit and stare at them for hours! Most of the time they're at silly, unimportant sites (e.g., not Dogster). Usually, if they're not on the computers, they're reading, or taking naps or something.

Well, Cindy and Drover and Me have to go in and out of the house quite a bit. We usually signal our wanting in or out by barking or scratching at the door. Silly Drover, though, likes to stare at the door and try to open it telepathetically. At least that's what it looks like he's doing. Sometimes, I'll be inside and Cindy or Drover will make some noise, saying they want inside too. Usually Mom or Brother or Sister are doing something "important", so I have to go get one of 'em. I run up to someone- usually Mom, and let her know that another dog wants inside. It's only then that she goes to let them in. I'm indespensible around here!

Mysterious snapping sounds

I was snoozing on the couch this afternoon, when suddenly I was put on alert status by mysterious snapping sounds.
Snap, snap, snap, bark, bark, bark!
Snap, snap, snap, bark, bark, bark!
On and on the snapping continued. The other dogs were oblivious to the mysterious snapping.
Mommy and sister were standing by the kitchen table putting something into some bowls. Mommy said everything was ok. But still the snapping continued. I finally gave up, no one was concerned!

Later, for supper, my family had some meat and fresh green beans from our garden.

A new Toy!

I can't believe it! I got a new toy today! My pal, Jelly, recommended a loofah dog. She has two she likes them so much.
My new loofah dog is a pretty pink with a good squeaker. Jelly told me to be sure to get one with a good squeaker. So my brother and sister tried out a lot of different loofah dogs until they found just the right one for me. Then they started all over to get a loofah dog for Drover. His is a boring light brown color. But it has a good squeaker, I tried it out.
We are not supposed to tear up these new toys. Man, they cut off the tags and other things that are a lot of fun to chew on.
We shall see how long they last.

Someplace on my page there is a picture of me and my new loofah dog toy.
