I'm went to the bridge

One June 6th my mom took me to vet. I got some medicine that made me very sleepy. I saw my mom's face just before I went to sleep. Then suddenly I felt great. I haven't felt this good in years. Not one ache or pain. And I can run now, my back legs work just fine. I'm in the sun and the air is cool. In the wind I can smell flowers and happiness. There are other dogs here with me. We snap at the bees and chase bunnies. There is always fresh cold water to drink. I can eat whatever I want whenever I want, even Skittles and Starbursts. My favorite part has been helping take care of the puppies that are here. I keep them clean, make sure they have fat full bellies and don't let them wander too far off. I love it here. Thank you for bringing me here.

Loki

It's been 3 months since Loki came. I loved Loki the minute I saw him. I could tell we had a lot in common. We are both big dogs, mild mannered, loving and calm. Mom says he isn't the sharpest knife in drawer and she says the same thing about me so we have that in common too. He likes grooming babies (stuffed toys) just like I do. We lay down together a lot. I am glad he is here because I can relax more. He is big and scary looking. I used to have the job of looking scary - even though I am not - as a crime deterent feature but now I can sleep more because he now has that job. I'm old so I can retire.

New house and retirement

Well, we moved to 'the country'. We live in a big house with a lot of land, fields, grass, and trees. It is lovely. We have a beautiful breeze all the time. I go for walks with the others in the fields but I stop to rest. I'm slowing down.

I am happy the bedroom is on the bottom floor. The stairs are steep. I haven't bothered going up there once, my hips couldn't take it. But I'm not in a lot of pain, it was just that stairs were getting rough.

My little sister, Temper, is about 3 now & I decided she should take over 'watch dog' for me. She is still new at it and barks at new comers whether they are good or not. She is also a little timid. She barks low & hides behind mom. She will get used to it as she works at it. Now I am free to lay down and relax all I want. :-)

So sad

My mom had to go to Texas again on very short notice. Her Papa was very sick. He died on Saturday. I am doing my best to keep the other dogs in line and keeping them clean so my mom won't have to be mad at us for anything.

I'm ok with it.

Meghan went to Texas to help take care of her sick Papa. I'm ok with it, but Penny gets really upset. I'm just glad I'm here because I have work to do and don't have time to worry. I've got to make sure my 'babies' are clean, the other dogs need their faces washed, I have to be on my toes so I can bark really loud when something doesn't sound right. Maybe if Penny weren't so lazy she might not get so upset.

About me.

I am a German Shepherd. Apparently I am pretty good looking because people say it all the time when they meet me, even strangers on the street, but I don't let it get to my head. I just love the walk.
I'm getting older and this gives me the right to do things I wasn't allowed to do when I was young. I get to lay on the couch whenever I want. I lay down when I eat and drink water. Why stand? I like to lay down quite a bit, but when I am outside and a tennis ball goes by I'm all over it. I don't run quite as fast but I still get out there and have fun. I also like to chew on tennis balls. I get them all nice and gooey then give them to my mom or some one else for a gift. They don't seem to like it as I do, I have no idea why. I make sure all of the other dogs faces are clean. I also make sure my stuffed animals are clean. When the little boy comes over I follow him around to make sure he is safe.
I have arthritis in my hips. I take two medicines and help quite a bit, but I still don't like to sit for very long. Sometimes going up the stairs isn't any fun. For last Christmas I got a heating pad for my blanket. Which is really nice when it is cold.
I have to go to the groomer soon. I don't like it. They wash me, brush me and clip my nails but I always feel better after.
