   Leave a bone for J P

Jape & Japers, old girl

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:

February 10th 1993

People food of any kind, tummy rubs, car rides, sleeping on her chair.

Taking her medication, getting bugged while she is asleep, the little ones wanting to play all the time

Favorite Toy:
Tug rope, she used to love running behind the bike to get out her energy, she's a little too old for that now.

Favorite Food:
Steak. There just isn't anything better!

Favorite Walk:
We let her outside the yard fence every a.m. for a visit and stroll with her long time friend, our neighbors toy poodle. We are remote and she didn't used to have a fence so she loves this. She also loves her daily walks with us.

Best Tricks:
Sitting and staying. Heeling without a leash. She has been very well trained.

Arrival Story:
J.P. was a rescue dog. Her name stands for Jordan's Puppy, but she was really two when we got her. She had been a long time not adopted from the shelter, because she was shy, but I loved her immediately. She drew me right in with that one bent ear, and those soulful eyes. I brought my two toddlers by to see if she would get along with them, and she loved them immediately. When she came home she hid under the table from my husband and growled at him for a couple of weeks. She is still very cautious around men.

J.P. was born in Yellowknife, N.W.T., and moved to Edmonton with her original owners. They gave her up when they could not find a rental home which took animals. She had been sled trained and loved pulling my kids along when she was younger. She also developed the awful habbit of killing cats when she was about five, (if they run). Her prey drive is high as in many huskies. My husband thinks this is quite O.K.!!

Smartest Breed of Dog?

What am I?:
J.P.'s breed is a guess. Her original owners listed her as a mutt/husky. I was lucky enough to come in contact with them later and find her history. The shelter tagged her as a Sheltie mix!!

There's snow. I hate snow. Snow means cold. Cold means bad joints. Bad joints means I can't get up to my chair. Also, Busy gave us a BATH. Then, she sent me outside SOAKING WET. I got back in in 5 minutes though.

The Fur Factor!

O.K. I fully admit there are some huge vacuuming issues surrounding my furriness. However, at least I do not have to get dressed to go outside.

Rocky, my deepest sympathies.

My new role as a Teacher.

Well, I've done many things to be proud of in my long life, but this is a new one. After many weeks of painstaking demonstrations, Rocky has finally taken my lead and learned to lift his leg while peeing. Sure, he still is a little unstable, and sometimes falls half over or pees after his leg is back down, but, I think he is doing just grand. Next on the list is teaching him how to squeeze out just a little at a time so he can leave lots of pees in a short walk. Missie still hasn't caught on yet, but all hope is not lost. I'll just keep working on her.
