Arrival Story:
Buddy came with the house we just bought, the seller's were just going to put this 13 year old gentlemen down. We couldn't let that happen. He has spent all his life outside in a dog run. But not anymore, he is great in the house and is really enjoying the attention. Buddy and Briar are getting along great and he and Rob are working on their relationship. Rob is top dog and reminds Buddy not to envade his personal space (a simple grumble does the trick). We have to manage feeding time but other than that they are doing well together. Rob invites Buddy to play and they bound around like puppies every now and then. He doesn't know what toys are and has shown much interest. Recently, he took a stuffed toy from Briar and played a very brief session of keep-away with her. Another great sign was that he and Rob will lay down back to back at my feet. In the doggie world this is a sign of ultimate trust and that just made my day!

Bio:
Buddy lived his entire 13 years in a dog run outside. He is now part of our pack and thinks he is in doggy heaven, because he is now an inside dog. He is a perfect gentleman in the house, and follows me everywhere. I think he feels I have hung the moon and stars for him because he is now warm, dry, comfy and well fed. It is amazing how quickly a dog that has had hardly anything in the way of attention will try to please you so much when they find someone is kind to them. We love you Buddy and look forward to a few years of having you enjoy your old age in comfort! 2/07 Buddy has come a long way from the mournful sad dog we first brought into the house. He is always happy now and shows it often. Being loved and secure he has blossomed into a wonderful old man! Buddy passed away Jan 21st at 2am. We miss you sooo much Buddy!!

Hello!

We went to the vet

Mom took us all to the vet for a check up and to get our toe nails clipped. Dr. reminded me not to mess with snakes anymore. We all got a clean bill of health and refills on our heartworm meds and flea control. Mom and dad took the whole dad off from work and we all went out to work in the yard since it was a nice day.

I helped mom clean out the pond. Well sort of. She caught all the fish and put them in a bucket. Rob and I got to guard the bucket. Rob really wanted to catch those fish though!

We were all pretty tired after a long day and we went to bed after dinner. I love my new family sooo much and they really love me too!!

Beware of Copperheads

Well things are going really great for me now. I love being in the house and people loving on me all the time. I am also getting over my fear of thunderstorms. Mom has me convinced that they are no big deal and that I don’t have to go out during all that noise. She is really happy that I don’t pace and worry hardly at all during the storms now.

I love sleeping in my warm cozy bed and mom got me a blanket and she tucks me in at night cause it gets cool in our house now that fall is here. Mom makes sure I don’t lay on the cold floor or the concrete in the garage. She says she doesn’t want my old bones to start hurting. I guess she knows best.

Rob, Briar and I have become great friends. This morning we were playing tag in the house, racing from one room to the next. Mom started laughing and told us to take the game outside. So we all ran out to our yard and ran around there. We play lots of games of tag, Briar plays with toys a lot but I still am not sure what they are all about.

Mom says I am a great dog and she is so proud of me. I have learned everything that she wanted me to learn, except one thing - “Leave it!” I got bit by a snake a few weeks ago, because I didn’t listen to “leave it” like Rob and Briar did and they had to rush me to the hospital. Mom was really scared but because they got me there fast I did okay. After some meds and good pain killers, I was able to come back home. I am still working on “Leave it”, but it’s hard sometimes. Dad told Mom that I was protecting her from the snake and that’s why I got bit. Beware of copperheads, they are bad snakes.

Mom has a treat for me so I am gone…for now.
