Arrival Story:
we were going to get a pound dog, but we were too young and easily frightened. we were looking into non-shedding dogs- wheatens and portugeuse water dogs, and the family decided on wheatens. we wanted to rescue but we were turned down, because wheaten rescue was very strict and our mom wasn't a stay-at-home mom. so we found a wonderful breeder, and she was also very concerned that we were old enough for a young puppy. we got to help socialize a litter of pups so she could check us out. we learned a lot about puppies and the next litter that came around, we got a kozi!
two years ago, kozi had back surgery for a ruptured disc. we were worried about manipulating her spine, but the vets didn't think that they would have to. after a long recovery (and a period of looking like a football), kozi is back to her cheerful self. occasionally she does a little "river dance" for us- her back legs slide out from underneath her, but mostly she's back to normal. we hope she will live for many more years.
