Arrival Story:
After receiving a call from the shelter I work for about a potential foster dog, I picked him up from the Animal Services Authority. He was 10 weeks old, deaf and blind, and had been deemed "unadoptable" due to supposed dominance. He was scheduled to be euthanized within a matter of hours. After disregarding what the evaluater said I took him home with the intention of fostering him until he was adopted. After several months of no serious inquiries, and a bond that I couldn't imagine breaking - I decided he was a part of my family for life. Now, Falkor is over a year old - much bigger than expected (which is a good thing!), very sweet and affectionate, gentle and mellow, well-behaved, and quite the corker!
Bio:
Falkor suffers from a genetic abnormality prevelant in dog breeds with merle coloring. If a merle-merle breeding occurs, 1 in 4 pups will have a genetic "defect". Falkor was born with two, deafness and blindness. The terms for this condition include "Double Merle", "Lethal White", and "Double White".
