Arrival Story:
I saw an ad in my local paper for a Chinese Crested. I already had a year old male (Reuben) and was living at home with my parents and their two dogs. I told my mom about the ad and she said "NO WAY. Don't even think about it". I called the lady with the ad and she said that she already had a couple hundred calls for the dog becuase it was rare and small. I told her I already owned a male and I was interested in getting a freind for him. I asked why she was getting rid of the dog and she said because she was divorcing her husband and didn't have time for her. I convinced my mom to go see the dog JUST to see her...she said ok..my dad said "don't you dare come back with another dog". We arrived at the house to find a poor little creature shivering on the couch. She was SKIN AND BONES!! My mom looked at her, then looked at me and said "GET THE DOG". I asked the lady if I could buy her and she said yes..she was impressed with my knowledge and happy to let her go to a home with another crested. She wanted me to wait 5 days before getting her...it was the LONGEST 5 days of my life. I went to pick her up ..gave the lady her money and never turned back. She had obviously been abused - I think by the lady's husband. She was TERRIFIED of men. I brought her home and cleaned her up...her and Reuben were INSTANT friends and have been inseparable ever since. My dad broke when she nestled into his arm that first night and became his little princess. My mom and I were going to buy her and find her a new home just to get her away from her horrible life - but 5 minutes in our home and she was meant to stay.

Bio:
I moved to Alberta three years ago and met my boyfriend. My dogs stayed in Ontario with my parents. I told my new partner.."I have two little dogs..they aren't your typical dogs, but if you have a problem tell me now because my dogs come first". He said 'Ok..i like dogs", but didn't know what to expect. They flew out to me a few months later and at the airport I opened the kennel. Kira who has NEVER gone to ANY men except my dad IMMEDIATLY went to my boyfriend and showered him with kisses. My mom said "I guess he's the one". So now her new daddy is her favorite person.
