According to my mommy and daddy, these are 10 of the most interesting and unusual things I do.
1) scuba dive for fish ... usually minnows
2) tell my peoples when it's time to go to bed
3) eat with a fork
4) ring a bell to go outside
5) tell my peoples it's time for dinner (5pm and 12am)
6) honk the horn with both paws to tell my peoples to come back to the truck ... because they didn't take me, and I'm tired of waiting
7) find geocaches when my peoples can't
8) listen to directions on which way to go (left, right)
9) roll down the window in the car/truck when I want to stick my head out the window
10) open doors (with levers) and drawers to get to goodies

My mommy entered me into the Dog Days Photo Contest on Facebook. She thought that this picture of me snoozing under an umbrella was really cute. If you haven't already entered, I don't mind the competition.
If you don't feel like entering, then vote for me! ;-)

I LOVE Texas Longhorns!! Other animals are ok, especially to chase or play with. I am always looking out for goats and horses and cows when my people take me places. But whenever I see a Longhorn, I can't help but wag my tail excitedly and boy do I perk up ... everytime! :D
By the way, I detest cats (ever since one tried to bite and scratch my master in our backyard) and raccoons are bothersome (they steal our food and ruin our camping fun).

My mommy and daddy recently took me on a camping/hiking trip. It was lots of fun. While I was with them, I did a couple of things that made them laugh and daddy told me that I should share my "jokes" with other doggies (so that their people can laugh too).
1st... mommy had just gotten back from the restroom in the morning. Daddy her to take me for a walk after she put her sweatshirt on. As soon as mommy put her sweatshirt on, I was ready to go. I guess they thought that was funny because I was listening so intently. No one had to tell me it was time, I just knew.
2nd... everyone, including me was really tired and just lounging around at the end of the day. Daddy said that in a little while he we was going to brush me off and we'd go to bed (in the tent). I got up, shook myself off, and went to the tent.... to let them know I was ready right then. They thought it was funny because once again I was listening so intently.

Well it's been several months now... Mommy hasn't allowed me near her computer in a while... I just wanted to let everyone know that my surgery revealed that I did have cancer :-( .... however, the vet removed the lump, said that it was caught early, and I should be just fine... does that mean I'm in remission? I guess so. So, anyways, the thyroid medicine has helped me so much... I feel and act like a young pup again... I can even keep up with mommy on our long walks - which I just love.
I also wanted to share with those of you who don't read the Dogster blog (shame on you), they wrote about us Doggy Cancer Survivors, and a great organization that is trying to help us.

I don't like going to the vet, but I'm a good doggy... I know the vet is there to help me, and that I need to see him once a year to stay healthy.
This week we finally found out why I can't keep up with mommy on our walks - I'm FAT! (which we knew) but I also have a thyroid condition (which is new to us). I have to on a strict diet of green beans (which I love) and diet dry dog food (which is what I've already been eating).... The portions are 1 cup green beans to 3/4 cup dry dog food. I only get a nibble of my favorite treat - pigs ears... which is much less than I'm used to. But I get to eat 2x a day, with a pill! But I only get pigs ears once a day - and not as much :0(
The pill is supposed to help me get my thyroid back under control.
Once that happens, I should start losing weight, and get my energy back. I also take mini walks, until I'm to walk more - at least 3x a week...
I get no more people food (other than the green beans) - which is hard for daddy and for me.... I love my people food.
I also have an ear problem... which I needs medication for, but it's ok... I get ear rubbings twice a day --- ahhh, that feels good :0) The vet says a lot of doggies are having this problem this year, due to allergies and the Texas weather
I'm having teeth problems due to too much bone chewing - so no more real bones :0( - so I can only chew on a small green teeth cleaning "fake" bone. I don't know about that.
I'm kind of scared, and so is mommy and daddy. The vet says I have a lump on my chest that has to be removed... I have to have surgery. The vet is pretty sure that the lump is not cancerous, but if not taken care of could become so... We trust the vet though, so I guess it will all be over with soon.

I had a wonderful Christmas. I didn't get nearly enough prime rib or cheesecake, my peoples kept saying no - that I couldn't have any... but they did give asparagus - which I love and I got to lick a few plates when my peoples were done eating.
My mommy gave me a new bone and grandma bought me 2 new beds - a semi-enclosed one for outside, I'll be comfy and warm now, and a big pillow - I love soft beds - for inside.
Mommy also took me for a really long walk this week. I have problems keeping up with her now... I guess I'm just getting lazy in my old age - although I'm told I'm still quite young. I'm just not very active, like I used to be, and can't go very far without wanting to have a rest. I'm glad my peoples love me despite my flaws - I guess that's what family is for.

I have my own alarm clock.... it's inside my tummy. I know when it's 5 o clock because I know that is dinner time. Today, about 4:45pm CST (whatever that means) daddy started playing with me. He woke me from a really good nap. After a few minutes of that my time started saying, ok, it's dinner time. Well, I told daddy and he said "Wait 12 minutes. It will be 5:00 and I will feed you." So I went back to my "couch" and laid down for 12 minutes - exactly. It was 5:00 and I went back over to daddy, put my paw on his leg, and gave a quiet whine to him. Then, I patted him a few times to make sure my presence was known. He said, "OK, you are right, it is 5:00. I will feed you now." Daddy was so proud because I could tell time. He said 12 minutes, and I waited exactly 12 minutes. I'm a really smart pup in my middle age.
