At the Bridge

My Mommy helped me to the Bridge this past Friday. I had an aggression problem that I inherited from my doggy daddy (irresponsible breeder!). My Mommy tried everything she could to help me, but even the veterinary behaviorist said I would never be "cured." I hate to admit it, but I attacked Mommy a number of times - I didn't mean to - something just went wrong in my head.

I attacked her on Thanksgiving night and Mommy knew that she had no choice. She did what was best for everyone, including me. I never wanted to hurt anyone - I just couldn't help it. I always felt so bad after I hurt Mommy, but I couldn't stop myself. It hurt her so much to help me to the Bridge, but I forgive her - and I feel so much better now. I miss my Mommy and my sister so much - I know I will see them again.

I love you, Mommy.

Long Time, No Bark

I felt the need to update my diary!

Wow, lots has happened since last time! The biggest things are the loss of my cousins, Kate and Bandit. =( I will miss them a lot. And....the adoption of my sister, Andy! =) Andy is my true sister, same litter - we have two brothers, also, who look like me. She was the only girl. But she is tougher than she looks. When we play-fight, she doesn't back down at all!

I love Andy...she is great. Sometimes I get jealous of her, though, because I like to be the center of attention. She can't help being so cute and she is an absolute cuddler. She likes to sleep on the bed with Mommy at night; I like to sleep UNDER the bed - hey, it's cosy! Sometimes, Andy likes to steal my toys, but I don't get mean with her; I just sit right near her, until she drops it - then I move in. Sly, aren't I??? And I don't get in trouble with Mommy!

Andy shares my passion for food (and certain non-food delicacies). =) Mommy gives us peanut butter, carrots, pupcorn, and the occasional french fry. We also love to eat leaves, mulch, and other outside yummies....mmmmmmm.

My friendship with Lulu is still going strong and Andy also likes her; Andy likes to give Lulu kisses on the nose.

I am tired...must go to sleep with Mommy. Goodnight.

Yesterday was Mommy's Barkday!

Wow...last night I got to go to my Grandpa & Grandma's house for Mommy's family birthday gathering! I got some cuddles - plus I got some brisket, chicken, and carrots! MMMMM, MMMMM! It was tasty (though I thought I really deserved more). I even tried to help in the kitchen, but Grandpa kept telling Mommy to "get me out of the way." I think he did not want to step on me - but then I couldn't help! Oh, well.

Unfortunately, I didn't get ANY cake. It was chocolate...why couldn't Mommy have had a peanut butter cake? Or a cheese and bacon one???

Mommy also got her hair done yesterday...it is reddish-brown with pretty highlights and it is much shorter than before. I think Mommy looks beautiful. But she is always a beautiful Mommy.

Oh, and I had to wake Mommy up yesterday *bright and early* for her birthday. She actually didn't look too pleased...I should have made her pancakes....BOL!

Yippee! Tomorrow is Mommy's birthday! And guess what? I am going to her "family party." (The "friend" party is Friday at an Indian restaurant and I don't get to go - drat!) We will be heading over to Grandpa & Stepgrandma's house in the afternoon - Grandpa is making brisket, sausage, chicken, mac & CHEESE, veggie platter, and a few other things. Oh, and CAKE & ICE CREAM! Yummmmmmy! I wonder how much I will be able to charm out of the guests. ;)

There will be at least 7 people there - maybe a few more. My aunt & uncle have not seen me since January - won't they be surprised how much I've grown!

Well, time to get in some rest for tomorrow! Yay!

Video Star!

Yesterday, I got to go to the dog park for the first time in over a week! It's been raining a lot and Mommy's working a lot so it's been tough finding the time. I swam like crazy and saw some of my old doggy friends.

While I was napping, Mommy decided to put up a video of me roughing up my "moo" cow. She is using her "silly" voice to goad me on and I jump on, dig at, and shake Mr. Cow. You can hear him "mooing" in the background, over the TV. Mommy was very proud that she got my video to work, but today she can't seem to play it!

Hopefully, it will be fixed soon.

Oh, and cow? I broke his "voice" about 30 minutes after that video was filmed. he he

Dog Park Heaven

I have been a busy boy the last couple of days.
Mommy has taken me to the dog park the last 3 days, for at least 1 1/2 hours each time! I've had so much fun.

On Tuesday I spent a lot of time swimming (of course) and wrestling with Cash the pit bull pup. We're good pals - good thing Houston hasn't banned pitties. :)

Then I went on Wednesday with Lulu. We swam and swam. Then Lulu decided to get a BIG stick and play keep away from all the dogs (including me). Cash and I chased her and we all romped together. A few other dogs kept joining us, too. We had so much fun for almost two hours! Then we all went back to me and Mommy's place to watch a movie. Lulu and I didn't stop playing until the movie only had 20 minutes left! Sorry Orson Welles - we'd rather play tag!

Today Mommy took me to the park about 4 hours earlier than usual. It was pretty quiet at the park...we met some new folks and dogs, including Molly the Lab. Molly and I both wanted the squeaky fish that our people kept throwing in the water; she usually got it because she can leap into the pond. I did get some quality time with the fish myself though. :) I also met Autumn; she was fun because she likes to run, run, run and I like to chase, chase, chase! Mommy had to bribe me with treats to catch me and put on my leash so that we could go home.

Well, Mommy just gave me a good bath (is there such a thing?) and now I'm all clean. I think I'm going to take a nap on the couch now. Woof!

What a weekend!

Well, Mommy left me for the weekend for the very first time - she went to an academic conference in Long Beach, Ca.
I stayed with Mom's friend Katie and my girlfriend Lulu. We had a blast! We played and played, went to the dog park, and kept dragging all Lulu's toys out of the toybox. I would get confused when I realized Mommy wasn't there, but I didn't realize how much I missed her until she came back last night.

Mommy was exhausted...and she was surprised at how exhausted I was, too!

Mommy liked Long Beach. She also spent part of Sunday in Los Angeles. She visited the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (part of her historical research is on funerary customs and architecture) and went on a short walking tour of Hollywood. It was amusing, she said, but not so big a deal. Mommy decided she should have stayed in Long Beach some more and headed to the beach! She'll take nature over celebrities anytime!

Mommy thought it was great how California seems to be really dog-friendly. Dogs walking in Hollywood, on the main drags and at outdoor tables at restaurants in Long Beach....it was nice. Maybe she can take a road trip to CA (she wants to see San Francisco and the north) and take me with her. I need a vacation, too!

Mommy added new photos in my photo album. Most are cool. She did post a picture of my 'butt-hawk' though. After I swim and shake off the water, the hair right above my butt and back legs sticks up all poofy-like. Mommy thinks it's hilarious...
