Arrival Story:
Gibson was surrendered to a shelter at the age of 18 months when his owners moved. He was rescued and fostered by a show breeder in Oregon until I adopted him in spring of 1996. Gibson loved everyone, especially kids. He especially loved raising puppies (hence: Uncle Gibson) and took over the care of my own adopted pups and many rescue puppies who have come in for foster care. Our dogs all have things to teach us. From Gibson I learned: be happy, carry on in spite of pain. Gibson was plagued with arthritis all of the years that I had him. Glucosamine was part of his diet from the age of 2, and later years DGP and Rimadyl were daily additives. Though he awoke stiff and sore, he got up every day and started with stretching and gentle exercise until his joints loosened up, and then carried on with his life. Later, when the inoperable tumor became huge, and must have weighed pounds, he still didn't let a little health matter bother him, and was sweet, congenial, and active until the end. He got great joy from being around youngsters: 2-legged and 4-legged. So I think his motto was "youth makes me feel young again!"

Bio:
Gibson had ACL surgery a few months after I adopted him. It was a tough summer for us, but certainly worth the $$ and time for healing. He was always a happy boy with wonderful manners and a loving personality. At the age of 14, one of his lipomas changed to an invasive tumor and was inoperable. Three months later, it had grown in size from an orange to a bowling ball, but he didn't seem to notice it and carried on with his life as usual...sniffing around the playfield, raising the rescue pups, teaching them manners and how to snoop for rodents in the garden. On Oct. 29, 2008, the tumor ruptured and he was eased to the Bridge, where he is painfree with Chena and Kenai, who he loved, and Sasha (with whom he was not compatible in life, so I hope they are getting along now!) He was just a wonderful dog and a great joy to have around, and he is very much missed at Willow Run Siberians. Thank you for all the years of happy memories, Gibson. You took care of me and were my best boy. Rest well, Gibby-boy, and we will be together again one day.
