Arrival Story:
Gus was a racing greyhound on the Florida tracks, one of thousands who washed out that year. Greyhound Friends, NJ found a home for him here in Pennsylvania, but it didn't work out. Gus is a boisterous boy and he intimidated his first family. We were asked to foster him while a new home was arranged and we had to keep him, he is so beautiful and sweet. We were experienced pet owners and Gus did not intimidate us, needless to say. That was in October 1999.
Bio:
Gus really missed his first family, and it took a long time before his broken heart healed. He was sure the children getting off the bus at our corner must be his kids. He has it made here, though, and he knows it. He is our champion costume-wearer, most recently appearing in a magnificent camel costume as "Gus, Ship of the Desert" in both the West Chester PA Halloween Parade and the Greater Philadephia Horse and Pet Expo Costome Contest (2nd prize!). Gus needs his space. When things get too crazy around here he just retreats to his crate and takes a time out. He is a happy, nice and very beautiful boy.
