Dear friends and dog lovers,
We lost our beloved Lizzie over a year ago and still we miss her. She stayed strong for a very long time but was taken by Lymphoma after a struggle and courageous battle.
I still have a hard time looking at her photos without crying. Her little buddy Bella is fine but also felt the loss.
She will live in our hearts forever and I know that there is a special place for these wonderful creatures when they leave us.

Our Lizzie, the love of our lives was found at Kimbertal Kennels in Valley Forge PA. We had lost two other dobes and were not planning on getting a third. In fact I told my husband that would never happen again as I could not lose another pet that way. Well, we looked at all kinds of dogs, in NY, PA, NJ etc. and decided on a dalamation (as far from a dobie as we could get )and even had them put a magic marker spot on her so that we would know which one she was when it was time to pick her up. That night after many miles and drives we were standing in our kitchen and I asked my husband if he was excited about the new pup...he said yes....but it is just not a doberman. I knew at that moment that we would do an injustice to any animal we brought home if it was not a dobie. We canceled the dalmation (I am sure she found a good home) and the next week we got back in the car and went to the breeder in PA. There we saw so many beautiful pups just waiting for homes but one that caught my eye. She had a rust spot right over her nose and when the others ran to us wanting attention, this little thing stayed in the back just sizing us up. That was our Lizzie and the moment our eyes met I knew she was the one. Lizzie lived a long life for a dobie, she was a country dog in Hopewell, NJ. She moved with us to Chicago and became a city dog only to move back to NJ and enjoy the country dog life again. We thought we were setteled and learned we were moving back to Chicago and by this time we had added a Soft coated Wheaten to the mix. Lizzie was truly a well travled dog. Our Lizzie was diagnoised with Multiple Myaloma in NJ and we were told she would not live more than a year. She took her pills everyday and broke the record by living almost two years longer than predicted. In the end she had cancer and Wobblers disease but she lived with great dignity. When the time came and we had to say goodbye we sobbed like babies. Never will there be a dog like Lizzie again. That was in fact our last dobie as this time we knew for sure that we had loved and enjoyed a dog that was world class in not only looks, but in loyalty, companionship and love. We miss he so much, its been three months but the pain is still so great. Bella misses Lizzie also but having her has been a great comfort to us. Oh, what would life be without these human, oh so human companions....?
