Favorite Toy:
Louie is not big on toys - maybe he never had them growing up. His favorite hobby is gardening! He wanders through the flowers and shrubs, doing a little "pruning" here and there.

Favorite Food:

Best Tricks:
High-five (Louie is a one-trick dog - this is it) :)

Arrival Story:
We fostered Louie for the humane society in April 2003 - he had been abused and was very afraid of being hit. They sure fed him though, he was seriously overweight and in poor health because of it - he has lost over 15 pounds (!) since he has been with us (the Christmas photo is a "before" shot). Since Louie was so bad off, he really wasn't ready for the average family, and he ended up staying with us. He has more than paid us back in love and affection! He has really come a long way and was worth the extra time he needed to get over his fears.

Louie is definitely not your typical Dalmatian - he is a real couch potato! He wakes up for hikes in the woods, when his energetic dog alter-ego briefly replaces him - upon returning home, he turns back into sleepy-Louie. update 2/8/07: Louie continues to surprise us - check out the new photos of Louie from this fall rolling in the grass and picking apples (his newest trick). Louie seems to age in reverse sometimes, as he is just starting to learn how to play and frolic.

Forums Motto:
How about a snuggle and a nap?

Louie is starting to show more and more signs of his age and his poor care early in life (a good commercial to keep your dog at a lean weight). The poor guy's back legs just slip out from under him sometimes, but he sure doesn't let it get him down! The Vet fixed him up with some pain medicine, and that really helps. Louie is the loveable "Old Man" of the family - he has good days and bad, and gets grumpy on the bad days, but his love of life shines through! Summertime is Louie's favorite time of year, and he putters in the garden between naps.
