Best Tricks:
Snickers is obedience trained, but he doesn't enjoy repetition much, just learning new things. He knows how to sit, stay, come, down, heel, roll over....just the basics.
Arrival Story:
Snickers was born into a litter of 13 puppies. His cocker spaniel mother stopped feeding them and their owner, (8 months pregnant) desperately trying to keep the puppies alive, took them to Wal-mart, put them in a shopping cart, and gave them away.
When Snickers got home he had to be bottle-fed. At 5 weeks he began to realize that when he heard the microwave, it usually meant he was going to get his bottle. When he would hear the microwave he would run into the kitchen and cry until he got his bottle.
Snickers never had any problems with housebreaking. He learns very quickly and even did some agility before he was diagnosed with hip displasia at age 3, which has slowed him down a bit.
He also had surgery in November 2003 for a lateral herniated disk in his neck. Recovery was slow and painful for him, but he is now back to his old puppy self.
Bio:
Snickers loves his little dachshund sister, Roxy, but he doesn't want anyone to know.
Snickers occasionally gets foster buddies (animals that come in from deathrow at the shelter to live with us until they are adopted)
so keep an eye out for them!
