Arrival Story:
I have my own grooming shop and Mariah was a client of mine. Her owners didn’t want her anymore. They had an underground electronic fence. The kids in the neighborhood thought it was fun to try and run across the yard before she could catch them. Well, she caught them and nipped their ankles. She is a herding dog that came from a big kennel that bred herding dogs. These people weren’t really dog people. They were afraid of her. I later found out that they must have abused her also. My husband and I took her in thinking we would find her another home. We already had 2 dogs. We ended up keeping her. She was a love bug. It was hard in the beginning with her. She was so afraid you were going to hit her

Bio:
Mariah is a very protective dog. I don’t trust her with strangers. Her first owners made her so afraid of people. We have worked a lot with her to build her confidence. She now knows that she isn’t going to be abused. We are just very careful with her. Once she gets to know people she turns into a big lap dog.
