Arrival Story:
Scooter had been a 'shelter' dog for many years of his life. He was moved to a shelter that I volunteered for and needed a foster home to help him gain weight (his was 38 lbs...well below his healthy weight). I fostered Scooter for a month or two to get him healthy for adoption. Unfortunately his breed is hard to adopt due to need for activity and level of interaction required. I eventually adopted him and continued to advance our 'bond' together. He's come along way accepting me and I've come along way in my dog training........or should I say Scooter training. He's a wonderful dog.......I only wish I knew more of his history because I beleive he's had a hard life prior to my adopting him.

Bio:
Scooter had a microchip that traced him back to Amarillo, TX animal shelter. At least I could get a little history on him. I was able to contact the microchip company and have his # registered to me in the event he gets lost or stolen. I HIGHLY recommend a microchip for your dog or cat .....a collar can be removed....a microchip is for LIFE.

Staying coooool in the Texas Heat!

With all the heat in Texas and temperatures over 100 degrees every day I have to walk and excercise very early in the morning and early evening. Boy.....that sun, heat and humidity can be tough on me. Lucky for me my owner limits my outdoor time, provides me plenty of fresh cool water with ice and ....best of all.........treats me to a Frosty Paws frozen treat. I enjoy my treat after the outdoor fun. It cools me down and makes me feel good.

Another quick way to cool down when I'm out is to dip my paws in water because that's where the heat escapes quickly...........WOW....it does feel good and gives me fast relief.

I'm a happy dog.......even during the hot days of summer!

Chilling at Starbucks!!!

After a morning workout I do enjoy some CHILL time at the local Starbucks cafe. They have a shaded patio that offers plenty of people watching activity and yet is relaxing. I don't drink the coffee but my owner always provides treats and water for me to enjoy as I lay down and simply enjoy the view.

I've been allowed to pull and take over the 'walking' experience for some time. My owner decided to go back to the basics to remind me of how important walking by her side really is. She and I are working together to improve my 'gentleman' skills so I can better enjoy our walks together. (rumor has it my owner enjoys the walks better too!). Who knows....I may actually attend some 'obedience competitions' later in my career to show off my talents!
