Arrival Story:
I had wanted a Yorkie for some time and finally made the decision to find a breeder. When I called the first breeder on my list, we hit it off right away. She had three pups available. Archie was the littlest and the breeder's favorite. He sat on my chest, looked me straight in the eyes and gave me little kisses on my chin and neck. He chewed on my rings. He peed on the floor AND on his piddle pad. He attacked the piddle pad and growled at it. I fell in love right then and there. He was my puppy. Took him home at nearly 12 weeks and continue to be madly in love with this ferocious baby doll.

My Life, by Archibald

Mommy and me on the road

My life just gets excitnger and excitinger! Last weekend me and Mommy drove-ded to a place called Troy, Mich. to see my Auntie Lisa, and my fur-cousins Jodie and Shanna. It was a long, long, long trip in the car, but I was in my car seat so I was comfy. Me could stand up and see out or curl up and take a nap. Sometimes me would just sit up and stare at Mommy with my big, round eyes. This made her feel guilty, so she would give me treats. Me even got a French fry out of her! Mommy did MOST of the driving (tee-hee!), cause me had to get my rest. Mommy sing-ded to me while she drove and that made me happy -- me LOVES music! When we gots there, me met my cousins, but they didn't want to play with me 'cause me is real little and young and they are old. That was O.K., though, 'cause there was plenty of stuff to look at and do at auntie's house, like play in the back yard and check under all the beds to make sure there wasn't no monsters or nothin'. Then, when Auntie Lisa threw a party, lots of people came and paid attention to me. Boy, was me tired after the party. Me went right to sleep in my crate (which made Mommy happy). Before we knew it, it was time to drive back to Chicago. Mommy says that me was a little angel the whole weekend and that we can take another trip real soon. Me drive, next time.

So much has been going on; I don’t know where to start! I met a new friend, Ann, who came to me and mommy’s house just to see ME. She has pretty yellow hair and likes to play with me and give me kisses — and you know how me likes that! She brought me a piggy that makes an oinky noise, but mommy and Ann says it sounds like a ducky instead. Anyways, I loves it! Then, I gots my first haircut and the haircuttin’ man made me almost bald ‘cause I won’t stand for mommy to brush me and I got “mats.” Don’t know what mats is, but I guess they causes you to have to have all your hair cut off! Anyway, now I’m skinnier than ever — only thing is, for some reason everybody who sees me thinks me is the cutest thing they ever done seed!

Mommy and our cousin Mildred tookted me to the Hyde Park art fair (don’t know what “art” is either, but lots of people seems to like it) and all these people kept coming up to mommy telling me I was GORGEOUS and askin’ how old I was and if I was gonna get any bigger. ‘Course I’s gonna get bigger — what do they thinks I am? A shrimp? Mommy was proud that so many people liketed me and I was very good and didn’t bite nobody! THEN, the next day me and mommy walked along the lake and the same thing happened. Everybody wanted to know about me. Mommy said if I’m not careful, I’ll get a big head from all the attention. Boy, I sure hopes my head doesn’t get big. How will my skinny little neck hold it up?

Me is too little ...

Last night me and mommy went to our first puppy obedience class ever! It was exciting to see all the doggies and when one doggy barked, I barked back! I got to walk on my leash, which me didn’t like at first, but it’s O.K. with me now ‘cause it means me and mommy can go see and do new stuff. The teacher lady is real nice and I tried extra hard to learn the lessons good. I got treats when I did something right! Me made a wee-wee on the floor once, but so did lots of the other doggies. Mommy was surprised ‘cause I was on my bestest behavior ever! I didn’t bite nobody or nothin’. And I paid attention … well … most of the time.

Onliest problem with the whole thing is that me is the littlest puppy in the class. Everybody is big, BIG, BIG! At the beginning of class, we get to play without our leashes and all the other doggies jumped on each other. I tried to keep up, but they was too big and I gots scared to get squished. Mommy was scared a little, too, I could tell. The nice teacher lady showed me a safe place that’s just for me that I can go to when those silly old big puppies get too rough. But, even though I was runnin’ for my life, I didn’t run to mommy. I showed her me is Big & Strong and BRAVE, even if me is too little to play with the big kids.

I can’t wait to go to puppy class again!
