Favorite Toy: Little tennis balls or whatever toy Ava has!

Favorite Food: Peanut Butter, Authority Liver treats, Chicken Breast Tenders, & dog park mulch!!

Favorite Walk: The antique fair, the dog park, & Trailhounds hikes

Best Tricks: She can also whine on cue, but only in public where everyone will pay attention to her & give her treats!!

Arrival Story: During my 2nd tour in Iraq, my unit was ambushed and I was severly injured. When I finally got back home to the USA, I spent a number of months in the hospital having facial reconstruction surgeries. During my stay in the hospital, I got to see therapy dogs in action and knew I wanted to work with Therapy Dogs when I could. I knew that I wanted a dog that I could train to be a therapy dog and had been looking for a few months. I went to help with a puppy mill rescue & while picking up the dead dogs in this "facility" I found Gracye! Gracye was 6 weeks old when she came home with me and although I thought I was taking care of her and helping her get better, it was almost the opposite!! She has helped me recover more than anything....I think she is my guardian, not the other way around!!!

Bio: Gracye is very much a working dog, she is my Seizure Alert Dog and she is also a Therapy Dog. As my Seizure Alert Dog, Gracye can give me a few min warning before I have a seizure so I can ake my meds or pull over if I am driving. Gracye has saved my life more than once! Gracye also LOVES being a Therapy dog, getting treats and attention for hours on end!! We spend a few days every week with children & soldiers that are in the hospital. She even has pink toenails most of the time...the kids LOVE to paint them!! She loves to visit the sick kids, especially the younger ones who are afraid of the bigger dogs and the ladies at the nursing homes LOVE to baby her and make her sweaters (26 & counting!!) We also visit soldiers that are recovering from injuries, just like her mom is! Working in law enforcement, Gracye has also helped me on a few occasions when I have had to give families devestating news or interview victims, especially children, but also adults. She makes them feel more comfortable and relaxed, and Gracye has let quite a few people hold her while she is cried into. Gracye DEFINITELY earns her keep!!
