We were looking online at the Catahoula United Rescue Society's adoptable dog page (www.catahoulaunited.com) and we found Rory. We knew as soon as we saw her cute pictures that she was our dog. We emailed CURS asking about her and found out that she would fit in perfectly with our little family. We were approved to adopt Rory the next day and had to wait 3 long weeks to get her. She made the long trip from Gainsville, FL to Wilmington, NC on Saturday the 8th of April 2006. After a few growls from Max to let her know who was boss, she was officially a part of our family. Max and her get a long great and with our new fence in the yard, she is loving life. We are very happy to have her! Bio: This is an exerpt from Rory's foster mom when she was first found.."Rory came from a kill-shelter where she only had one day left to live. Her name was originally "Spotty". When I saw her adorable picture, and knowing she was living on borrowed time, I agreed to foster her for CURS (Catahoula United Rescue Society). I thought the name Spotty was completely unbefitting, as she is smart and sassy, so I chose to name her after another smart and sassy girl - Rory Gilmore from the WB's Gilmore Girls, which is my favorite show of all time. She grows to fit this description more and more every single day. When I picked Rory up from Amber, she was filthy and wormy and knarly looking. She had demodectic mites, fleas, and a big skin infection. Her right rear ankle was extremely swollen - about 3-4x what it should have been. She is gaining weight and personality rapidly. She is still missing a few patches of hair, but you can tell it is growing back in. She is definitely a 'Houla girl! She used to be really well behaved on the leash, but now that she is less timid, she is becoming quite the little handful! She is absolutely terrible about taking a bath, but other than that she is a great dog! I love how she is always wagging her tail and licking me. She loves to be snuggled." Rory is with us in NC now and just had her first check up with our Vet. Besides an ear infection, she has a clean bill of health. We just need to fatten her up a little bit. She is adjusting well to our new home..each day she is more comfortable. Just leave it to Max to show her the ropes.
