Arrival Story:
After losing our adopted dog COSMO, suddenly to cancer, I longed for another dog. After several months searching Petfinder for a dog to rescue I knew I had found the one! My husband took one look at his picture on Petfinder.com and said get him...so, I contacted the Humane Society for Campbell County Virginia. After filling out an application and speaking with their Dog Adoption Coordinator, Barbe, we agreed to foster him as their shelter is extremely overcrowded. We drove 780 miles (14 hours) round trip to Maddison Heights, Virginia, and as soon as we saw him, we knew he'd be perfect for us so, we adopted him right there on the spot! The date of Kasey's adoption is what we used for his birthdate, since we don't know when he was born. He is our purebreed American Mutt!

Kasey is named after NASCAR's Kasey Kahne. Kahne won the Samsung/RadioShack 500 race (second win of the year) the day we adopted our puppy! Named him after Kahne, who was our favorite rookie, only because we couldn't name him Dale :)

It has been two years today that I was adopted by a wonderful family in Pennsylvania. Cody went out and bought me Peanut Butter Frosty Paws today and I ate the entire thing! It was great! Thanks Cody, I love you buddy!

Amazing! I just watched Shelter Dogs, a documentary on HBO, with my Mom today and we both cried! Shelter Dogs is a thought-provoking film about ethics and choices. It was filmed at the Rondout Valley Kennels in New York.
It made me realize how important adoption is and how lucky I am to have been adopted! It's definately a film I would recommend for all my fellow Dogsters to watch. And, I really hope all homeless dogs could find loving homes like I did. Wish Mom had room for more!

WOW! I almost got my first squirrel today! Those little guys are driving me nuts! I think if I keep trying I can climb up the tree after them. Hopefully, my friend J.D. the Doberman will come up and run with me this week so I can get faster. I love to run with him and it is helping me to get faster and faster. Look out little squirrels!!!!
