Arrival Story:
After our beloved 15 year old Pekinese Nepal passed away June 15, 2005, I knew I wanted another dog...and soon. I had researched this breed after falling for "Jill" who was one of the dogs featured in the movie "As Good As It Gets" and "Sweet November." I knew for some time this would be the breed of our next dog. Especially a breed without the back problems and shedding issues Nepal had. So a Brussels Griffon seemed to be the perfect choice. I even had the opportunity to dog sit my neighbor's Griffon Bosco, while living in Atlanta in 2003. Chui was purchased, of all places, the internet. He was the last one of the litter, a runt. He was 14 weeks old and in need of a forever home. Through email contact and photos of him and his parents, we made the decision that he was the one we've been looking for. He came to us the night of July 30, 2005 on a Continential Airlines flight from Houston, TX which finally arrived after a slight delay just before midnight. The first time I touched him, through his crate he licked my fingers to say hello. It was love at first sight! No dog could ever replace Nepal in our hearts but we love him just the same. Chui has brought so much joy to our family. We were very fortunate to find such a wonderful breeder and an amazing dog.

Bio:
Chui's name came from my hairdresser Amirah who grew up in Kenya and spoke Swahili. I told her I was a Star Wars fan and was thinking of naming him Chewy. She owns cats and had recently lost her cat Chui in an accident. Since Nepal's name also came from a cat. I thought it seemed appropriate.

A Day in the Life of Chui

I can't believe I'm 4 years old today!! Wow does time fly!! My Mommy wanted to wake me up from my beauty sleep to wish me a Happy Birthday but I wasn't having that. I crawled up under the covers where is was still dark and warm to sleep some more.

Mommy said something about going to the P-A-R-K. I don't know that that means? She likes to spell words out sometimes so I don't know what she's saying. But I do hope she will take me to the park later to see my friends.

I always get a special treat every year and a new toy. I wonder what it will be this year? We'll see!!

Greetings from Grand MA MAH!
This is just the best little doggie in the World! Some days you want ten more just like him and every now and again, you want to open the door and let him run away! Naw, just kidding! He is the best and has changed our lives for the better--more love and happiness than can be imagined. His bright, happy face greets each of us with a sloppy lick of the toes or cheeks; whichever is closer, each and every day. He is a happy dog and his happiness has spread throughout our world.

First Day at Dogster, What's In A Name?

Greeting! Err, I mean woof woof!
Today is my first day here at Dogster and I'm not sure why my Mommy put me here. But I know how much she loves me and wants a way for me to make new friends so here I am!

My name is Chui pronounced Chew-ee which in Swahili means leopard. I don't think I look like a leopard, (What's a leopard anyway?) but it seems to fit me since I like to chew things. My Mommy thought I looked like Chewbacca from Star Wars and wanted to name me Chewie. I don't see the resemblance? I'm much smaller and far cuter than that guy! But my name came from a nice lady from Kenya who suggested the name Chui, which was the name of her cat who passed away last year. So that's how I got my name. From a wookie and a cat. Go figure!
