Arrival Story:
We adopted Shadie from the HSSV, Santa Clara on August 8, 1990 after the illness and loss of our Ruby Begonia (Border collie). My husband saw her before I and fell in love with her at 1st sight. She probably had some abuse in her past based on her physical condition and some emotional issues. The *day* we brought her home and into our lives, she became OUR HEART DOG for life, though she's no longer with us.

Bio:
Shadie developed Degenerative Myelopathy at about 14 1/2 years old. There is a wonderful source of info and strong support on Yahoo Groups for this condition. I strongly suggest that if your pup suffers from this condition, that you join this wonderful group of friends. Shadie went to the Bridge in 10/03 and I am still an active member of : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dege nerativemyelopathylist/
