My Grandpa's friend had a Yorkie named Star and he liked her so much he wanted to go out and get one for me. So he brought me to the Pet Store and surprised me with a puppy.

Bio:
Snickers was a sweet, gentle, and hyper dog who was as heathly as can be until she was about 10 and then the classic yorkie problems began. It all began when she was diagnosed with a mild case of a collapsing trachea which luckily did not require any treatment other than switching to a harness when she went for her daily walk. Then she tore the ACL in her right hind leg and had to have her enitre knee rebuilt. She was in a lot of pain but handled it like a trooper, she even jumped out of the playpen that she was staying in after one day. Her knee healed well and she was able to continue playing and going for walks until about 2003 when she reinjured her knee. This time we opted to cast her leg while getting her teeth cleaned instead of putting her through surgery. They pulled 3 teeth and casted her leg which helped the knee but because she would not stop running with the cast on she developed pressure necrosis and had to have a lot of dead tissue removed from knee hip and foot. Still she healed well and did not let any of it change her routine or slow her down even after she developed an enlarged heart and required water pills to help keep her body free of excess fluids. Then in the spring of 2005 she began acting odd, her balance seemed to be off and we caught her staring at nothing for minutes at a time. We took her to the vet and he determined that she had developed a liver shunting condition common to yorkies which caused blood to bypass the liver and cause ammonia to build up in her brain. We treated her with diet and medication but in August the disease began to progress and could no longer be controlled. On August 24, 2005 she began to have seizures and her kidneys and other organs began to shut down. Despite our best efforts she passed peacfully on the morning of the 25th. She was my baby and I miss her every day.
