Arrival Story:
After much longing for a golden retriever, Mom saw an ad in the local newspaper. The breeder didn't live too far away, so mom and Matt went to visit us (11 of us) to see if they might like one of us!! The breeder took me and my 2 brothers in the house so Mom and Matt could play with us. I was really tired that morning, so I curled up behind Mom and then behind Matt and they took that as a "sign" that I should be the ONE!! I was still too little (even though I was the biggest pup in the litter!) to go home, so Mom and Matt had to wait 3 more weeks for me. The breeder's daughter worked near our house, so when I was 8 weeks old, she drove me to my new family.

Bio:
My mom and Matt named me after my dad who was registered as Sir Shane, the golden one. Matt really like the name Sir Casey, the golden dream and so that's what they called me. Of course that's way too long to say all the time, so they just call me Casey!! When I was almost 1 year old and after I had finished 2 (!!) obedience classes (I'm kinda hyper), Mom signed me up to take a 6-wk agility class. She thought it would be a good way to release some of my energy. Well, I thought it was pretty fun, but Mom really got hooked! She loved having a special way to play with me. We met lots of really nice people and their dogs are now all my pals and we meet once a week for training when the weather's good. Mom has taken me to a couple of agility trials. It was so cool because we were able to hang out with some of our training buddies and we always have a great time! I am also a very proud member of our local flyball team: Team Run 4 Fun. Our name says it all...we play flyball for the fun of it!! The team attends flyball tournaments out of town and we get to race against other dog teams. I love it....and bark my enthusiasm all the time!! I'm not as fast as all those speed streak Border Collies and Aussies, but I like the excitement of a tournament and the comraderie we have with lots of other dogs and dog lovers!!!

Forums Motto:
Run for fun and jump for joy!

Merry Christmastime!

Well, it's that time of year again.....time for presents for all good doggies! Mom said I've been the best dog ever all year and will get lots of toys and a special bone for Christmas! I have been excellent leaving all the holiday decorations alone. Mom also said I was a very good example for my little brother, Skipper.

Mom and Matt are taking both of us to an agility trial over the New Years weekend! We haven't been able to train lately because of the rainy weather, but I know "my stuff" and I listen to Mom and always follow her commands. Our little golden, Skipper, is not old enough yet to enter a trial. He'll just watch from the sidelines while I run the course! We love hanging out with our other friends and their dogs too!

Novice Jumpers Preferred

At the end of September I DID IT!! I completed my first agility title! It's called Novice Jumpers Preferred--NJP! Cool, huh!! The "preferred" classification doesn't mean I'm extra special....well, I am according to my mom! It does mean that I am not required to jump really high jumps in competition. The people who figured out all the rules for agility trials base the height the dog jumps on how tall the dog is. Since I have really, really long legs, I would have to jump really, really high jumps. Mom got worried I could injure myself, so she decided being a "preferred" dog with lower height requirements was the best deal for me!!

I'm still working on my agility title and haven't gotten any completed course runs (you need to have 3 of them) YET! Sometimes the equipment at the trials is so different from the ones used by my trainer that it kinda freaks me out and I won't go on them. Mom always says, "That's okay; we'll try again next time."

My little brother is now old enough to enter trials too, so Mom signed us up for one over the New Years weekend. We're going to meet all our friends from class and have the best time ever!!
