Favorite Food: Premium Edge, frozen peas, frozen string beans, carrots and apples Favorite Walk: US Forest Service Mendocino Genetic Tree Farm 'cause I can run off-leash! Yay!! Best Tricks: Shakes paws and looks cute!!! Arrival Story: My mom and Matt found me on the internet. My breeder was in Colorado, so I was flown on a big airplane to Sacramento where Mom and Matt picked me up! I slept all the way home in the car. It was a day full of new adventures and all the excitement left me really pooped by the end of the day. I was so happy to be finally home and to have a big brother waiting there for me! And he's just like me....a golden retriever. Bio: My mom said I come from championship lines, but that's not why she got me. She did lots of research on the internet before she picked my breeder because she wanted to make sure my parents had all their health clearances. Mom and Matt and my big brother, Casey, play on the local flyball team and Casey also runs agility (for the fun of it). Mom hopes I can play these sports too and it's important to have a healthy body to be an athlete. Forums Motto: I LOVE to fetch tennis balls!! I've Been On Dogster Since:
Our family went to an agility trial at the beginning of the new year! It felt like the right way to start out 2007! Mom had entered me in my first trial and then found out I was not old enough to participate. Aw shucks!! My big brother Casey got to have all the fun.
Mom said not to worry---there would be lots of trials in the Spring and I'll be old enough to strut my stuff then. I'll keep ya'll posted as to how I do!!
Well, my mom and my human big brother, Matt, carried a tree into our house about 2 weeks ago. I was shocked! What were they thinking? Mom laughed at my surprise! She let me smell and check out this tree which she said was for Christmas. I don't know what she's talking about!! She kept telling me, "This is your second Christmas with us. Last year you were still such a little puppy you don't remember Christmas, but now you're a big boy!"
Then she and Matt brought in lots of boxes from the garage and they started putting lights and all these pretty things on that tree in our living room! She only had to tell me once to "Leave it!" and I've been a super good boy and do just what I'm told. Of course, when Mom leaves us at home alone, she thinks it's safer to keep me gated in the kitchen. There are too many temptations with all these decorations around and I could really make a mess of things if left on my own.
A couple of days ago some doggie friends came to visit us and I had so much fun running around playing with James and Apple! We know them from agility training class and it's fun being able to run around the yard with them which we can't do while we're in class.
We're going to an agility trial on New Years weekend. I'm still too young to enter a trial, but Mom said, "Come the Spring, Skipper will be able to play too!"
A couple of weeks ago I graduated from basic obedience. It was a great class and now that I'm 10 months old, I can pay attention and remain focused for longer periods of time. I'm very good at my "stay" command and mom said that's a really important one to know!
I have also begun agility training. Yippee! I love running up the A-frame and the teeter totter doesn't frighten me at all. Sometimes I get confused about what jump to go over, but little by little I'm improving! Someday I'll be as good at it as my big brother, Casey! Mom is so proud of me!
