Arrival Story: My mother and I saw him in a pet store... asked to play with him and took him home that night (when I had no intention of buying dog that day!) Although I have always loved and wanted a Golden Retriever! Once I saw him I fell in love with him!

Bio: Raja is so full of energy and always wants to play! If you don't play with him he will bring his toys over to you and throw them on you. He is also very intelligent. He learns your daily routines and sometimes knows what you're about to do before you do it! He is the most adorable dog we have ever had!
Although Raja was getting older, and gaining more white in his fur he had slowed down quite a bit. We didn't think much of it because he had bad arthritis and hip dysplasia. We had bloodwork done and everything came back normal. The last three days of Raja's life were hard. He stopped moving around and wouldn't even get up to take a drink of water. He would drink water if we put a little bowl in front of him. We rushed him into the vet, who then did x-rays. They showed a massive tumor in his spleen. The vet's words were that he "was a ticking time bomb." He advised us that Raja needed emergency surgery immediately. We had to have him at the vet the next morning at 8:30am. He said if the tumor was cancerous, but had not spread that he could remove his spleen. However, if there was cancer and it had spread outside of the spleen that there would be nothing he could do. We got the phone call shortly before lunch with bad news. He said the cancer had spread to multiple spots in his liver and that Raja wouldn't have lived a week. We made the decision to put him to sleep, rather than bring him back out of the surgery only to suffer and be in pain. It was devastating news to the whole family as we had just had him checked in December (with bloodwork)and everything was fine. I guess cancer in the spleen is fast growing from what I have read online. We all love Raja so much and miss him terribly. Please - get your dog bloodwork and x-rayed if they seem to slow down more than normal...it could save their life. I miss you buddy, rest in peace.
