I have been very sick lately, but I'm happy to have a new brother to play with. He's nice, but he's still very young and he annoys me sometimes.

Time may be growing short for me to be with my family, so they let me sleep on the bed at night and do lots of things I wasn't allowed to do before. I know they love me very much.

My legs don't work as good as they used to, and it's getting harder for me to climb the stairs, but I can still fetch a ball and have a good time. I guess it's not so bad being sick, I get all the yummy food I want whenever I want it! I have a doctor appointment in a couple of days, so we will see what he says. Keep your paws crossed for me.

Some People's Dogs...

Mom and dad took me on a nice long walk around the park today. I was really excited to get out and stretch my legs! When we got there, a couple was walking a beagle, so I barked and whined until dad put me in a sit-stay. I still whined real loud, even though he tried to calm me down. He just doesn't understand! I HAVE to bark at other dogs! If I don't they might try something fishy with my family. It's my DUTY to protect them!

After they passed us, we walked along the path some more until we came up on three youngsters fishing. The girl had a little chihuahua that looked like a bruiser. So I barked and whined again. Dad made me sit for a whole five minutes! I was really irritated, but I did what he told me to. Mom and the tyke kept walking, and I let dad know that it wasn't a good idea to let them get so far ahead of us. So I calmed down long enough to catch up with them.

I love the water at the park! There's so much! And it has a neat taste. I liked walking around in it and splashing dad everytime I came back out. Gotta include him on the fun, too! But when dad took me over to a tree to let some of that water out, I couldn't get the job done because I was too busy trying to keep mom and the little one in sight. I waited until they were right next to me, then I could go.

And on our way out of the park I saw the beagle again, and a BOXER!!! I'm tellin ya, that boxer might have been nearly twelve, but I knew he was cookin something up because he gave me "the eye". Well, I barked real good at him and even tried to jump out of dad's grip. But dad's strong, not like mom. I can pull her wherever I want to...maybe that's why dad always holds the leash. Anyway, I hopped in the back of the van after sitting on and sniffing everyone else's seats to check them for dangers. But I still was barking at that boxer on our way down the lane.

I love days out with the family! I just wonder why they don't take me out in public more often. They sure could use the protection from all the canine ruffians out there!

Hi. My name's Arco. I'm a three-year-old German shepherd, and I'm the boss in my family. Well, okay, dad's the boss. And mom ranks just above dad. But I'm the leader of the dog pack, no doubt about that. My brother Apollo is not the brightest dog I've known, but he's great for pinning 'accidents' on. And my sister Sadie's just annoying.

I'm deffinitely a daddy's boy. Wherever he goes, I follow. Can't help it. I'm a shepherd. Loyalty is in my blood. I'll bark at anything I think is worth it. Strangers, other dogs, loud cars, even the sound of a neighbor's door closing. I'm a good watchdog - even if I wouldn't hurt a fly. No, that's wrong. I DO hurt flies. But they ask for it by buzzing around my head. What dog wouldn't snap at em?

Anyway, I guess Apollo has more time for internet forums like this. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for setting up playdates and such, but I don't antisipate being a social butterfly around here. I've got too much to do at home.

Speaking of which, I think I just heard a truck down the street pull in. Usually I don't give it too much thought, but there's this new dame I've been trying to get to know. Hmmm, I think it's a good time to bug dad for a walk.
