Arrival Story:
As a child I always wanted an AES, but my mother said no they are too big and will hurt the other dogs(we had chihuhuas, poodles and shihtzus). So I would collect books and pictures on them. When I was 19 I gave my boyfriend a lab mix(Sentry, ) ). I just fell in love with her we were inseperable! She went everywhere with me even on the back of my kayak! But unfortunately, she passed away. I told myself I would never get another dog, I was extremely upset! But I decided I was lonely, so I started thinking of fostering a dog, because I didn't want to suffer the pain of seeing another dog die. I was looking up information on local humane society pages, when I saw the cutest little AES on the Humane Society website. And his kill date was scheduled for that Monday(this was Friday), so I called immediately. They said they weren't open on Monday because this was a holiday. I thought, oh know I am too late! But they said they would hold the dog for me, if I really would pick it up. To make sure I got there on time I left my house very early, as it takes about an hour to get there and I wanted to make sure I was first. I got there at 8, but it didn't open until 9! So I waited, then the more people started showing up(someone for another puppy, and a lady from the humane society and someone for the same dog I wanted). Finally the warden came, I told him who I was and which dog I wanted, but he said someone else was coming for the dog at 10(which didn'T make sense, because, #1 on the phone he said I could have the dog and#2 the sign outside the building said it was first come first serve and I was there first!). I waited until she finally showed up at 11.(throughout all of this I found out the humane society and the pound people hate each other and won't work together to save animals!) But this lady made me promise I was not part of the humane society and let me have the dog. The whole situation really bothers me! Anyway on the way home, as he lay down in the back seat I tried to think of a name for him. Lots of different things popped in my head, the humane society lady said his name was Russell but that just didn't fit. Finally I came up with In memory of Tooter, Spud (my dogs from when I was a kid, who died that year also) &Sentry, Martin Luther King, Jr.(It was Martin Luther King, Jr Day).

We have been happy together ever since. We moved recently to Germany and I tell him always it is so that he can rconnect with his ancestors!
